“We had a wonderful experience”

This is really a hidden jewel and a wonderful spot for any get away whether your a golfer or not. We had great customer service right from the time I phoned to inquire about a room. We opted to stay 2 nights and took advantage of 2 of the packages offered. We were offered the option to upgrade to a deluxe room in the Mission building for a minimal charge and were very happy that we did as the room exceeded our expectations. The service in all areas was right on, we enjoyed meals in the dining room and the lounge the food was really delicious. Our only dissappointment was that we couldn't stay another day or two. Although it's a bit of a drive from our home city of Edmonton we are already planning on making a trip back to St. Eugene in the Fall. As I was so impressed with the great service, food, surroundings & golf, I have already reccommended St. Eugene to a number of people and will continue to do so. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

This is the second summer we have driven to Cranbrook to stay at this lovely resort. The rooms in the main building cost a little more but are worth it if you like a step above the rest. The main restaurant is also worth dining in- be prepared to pay for it - but it is well worth it. Are only beef is that you can't book directly online. You have to send an email to request a room or phone. They need to update their website and ensure it meets 21st century standards. We will go back next year. If you like to golf, check out their gold packages.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra to stay it the main building

I chose the St Eugene Golf Resort and Casino because it presents itself as a relatively upscale resort and it is dog-friendly.
The hotel is beautiful, the views are amazing, the grounds are meticulously kept. Unfortunately, overall, my stay ended up being less than pleasant.

While the hotel is dog friendly, all the pet-rooms are next to each other, at the end of a long hallway in one part of the resort. The hallways is accessible through one of the main entrances, unfortunately it is a busy entrance, that always has a lot of people mingling about. Making your way to the room past the crowds with dogs is not easy.
There is an exit available near the pet rooms, but you are unable to enter the hotel that way. Perhaps changing the exit to a secure entrance, accessible with a keycard would allow those of us traveling with dogs to get to our rooms without having to disturb other guests.

In addition, the parking is a nightmare. While it is nice that the grounds are beautifully landscaped, instead of just taken over by parking, but having to hike all over the place, especially when unloading/loading luggage is just awful.

The room (clearly identified as a PET ROOM by a large sign at the door) looked nice, but had stained carpets, a bed that squeaked if you got too close to it, and a lumpy duvet. I was disappointed, especially since, when making my reservation I explicitly asked if staying in a pet room meant that the room would be not as nice as a regular room and was assured that it was "extra nice".

In addition, folks in the room across the hall left their dogs unattended in the room for long periods at a time and the barking was very annoying. I called guest services to complain, but nothing changed, so I assume that no action was taken.

In addition, the room was not cleaned properly during my 3 night stay. I left a hotel mug in the bathroom sink, to indicate that it needed to be cleaned/I needed a new one, and after the housekeeping had been done in the room (which seemed to consist only of making the bed and adding mini shampoos to the bathroom), the mug was still there.

I made the reservation for a Sizzling Summer Special which was supposed to have a $20 dining room voucher with it, but the staff forgot about this. When I mentioned it upon checking out, I was told that they have been forgetting about this a lot because they are really busy. Huh? What kind of service is that?

The parking, the poor location of the pet rooms and the lack of service/response to my complaints are all reason why I will not stay at this hotel again.

We had a good stay at this hotel and would definitely return there again. We paid $145 a night (including tax) for one queen bed - paid through Expedia. The location can't be beat for this resort! It really is a great resort in the Kootenays/Cranbrook. Golfing is great (managed to have 2 free rounds given to us).

Customer service is helpful, friendly, and a bit too eager to please at times. The rooms, incuding bathroom, are modern with nice finishings. The pool area is quaint and an oasis in the Kootenay desert. The food was just okay at the hotel and we ate in Cranbrook for our 2 day stay there. Did have a craving around midnite while at the casino and the kitchen fired up some smokies for us, which was a bonus.

i must say that I found the casino staff pushy and a bit of a nuisance, i.e. always pushing chairs in after a cusomter has left the slot machine literally 2 seconds after they get up. I know that is a small nit picky thing but I found the overall service staff at the resort somewhat "too eager to please" if you know what I mean. I know that we always write or complain about the lack of or poor customer service, so I hesitated in writing this part. I think it does need to be noted, as it comes across as pushy, intrusive, or disingenuous at times, which can detract from your stay. To me, this is more of a training thing for their staff than anything else.

They fitness facility is small and ok. It would be nice to have some live music or a band playing at the hotel to liven things up a bit.

All and all, we would stay at this hotel again.

My wife and I have stayed here on numerous occasions and have enjoyed our stay each time. The rooms are comfortable, it’s more secluded than a motel (being that Cranbrook does not have much to offer for hotels that I would be inclined to stay at), and the food is excellent. There is plenty to do at the resort i.e. spa, golf, casino so if you are looking to find a nice place for a day or two then I would recommend staying here.

We visit Cranbrook quite often as our son plays hockey there, and we will never stay anywhere else. It is a few minutes out of town, but there is a variety of places on the premises to eat and have a drink. The casino in the hotel is also a great place to have some fun. The grounds are beautiful and a great place for a nature walk. The rooms are cozy and clean and the staff is professional and helpful.

The Casino of the Rockies, at St. Eugene Golf Resort, provides a gambling opportunity, but it is the only full-scale casino in the area, and they know it. The casino had a reasonable variety of slots, with a few of the newer models, but with only 200+ machines, there will not be very many of the new machines open during the busy times, since they only have a few (on just 1, in some cases) of them. There is almost no video poker (only VP that was found was on a couple of multi-game machines) and what was there had rediculous pay tables, such as 6/5 Jacks of Better. Not good.
The casino is clean, and open, but not particularly large. Be aware if offered a drink, that the mixed drinks are NOT complimentary. One server gave a confusing and vague explaination about which drinks were comped and which were not. She appeared to be stating that a single-shot drink was free, but a double was not (which would have been reasonable), but when the single drink was ordered, and arrived, she announced that it would be $9.50 for a highball, and they don't accept American currency, so be prepared for some higher prices on the drinks.
