“In the middle of nowhere”
Reviewed 29 December 2013

Beautiful building in some kind of old Spanish missions style. Very pleasant hotel isolated in the middle of nowhere and of a golf. Absolutely quiet. Cramped and old-fashioned but well maintained rooms. Very clean. Welcoming staff. Good restaurant.

Truly appreciated the seasonal decorations at St. Eugene where the spirit of Christmas is everywhere. Candy cane mints in the rooms, Christmas trimmings on door knobs, and by a warm fireplace with a protective screen featuring a December theme. A wonderful way to begin holiday celebrations. It is the particular attention to detail that marks hospitality at The Mission. Loved the light-strung t-pees that graced the exterior entrance of this historical residential school. Well done! Inspiring!

Room Tip: Ask for a manor room, luxury and comfort - a great combination

This was our second year in a row staying at St. Eugene and as long as we are playing in Cranbrook's tournament, we will be staying here. The continental breakfast left a little to be desired, but the casino and entertainment was excellent. The gals that come around and take your drink orders could be a little less scarce though.

I made my first winter visit to Cranbrook this week and stayed at St. Eugene Resort on the recommendation of a local resident.I'm sure I had the same reaction as most people driving out there for the first time. I drove down this long road with not too much around it and when the resort came into sight, I had the same WOW! response that I'm sure everyone else does. Its a beautiful place, even in the winter. My room was very clean and the beds are very comfortable as well. I ate in the restaurant and also had room service on one night. The food and the service were both very good. The one thing that was different was the Christmas card that housekeeping had left on my table with a few candy canes and Christmas wishes for someone they had never met. What a nice gesture. When I checked out I made a point of asking who had made up my room so that I could leave them a small thank you in appreciation of that little extra attention that your not used to getting when your on the road. Beautiful resort, great people and service.

We stayed here while traveling through the area. We had a room in the wing adjacent to the casino. The room was nice, clean. The hot tubs were great, large and out in the open. Could have used some robes for the trek to the pool area though. This complex is not near other facilities, so you have to eat on site if you don't want to drive. Unless you want expensive restaurant food, the only alternative is the small place off the casino, food is way to expensive for the quality.

Although the poker room is closed most of the time the casino is friendly and warm. The lounge has really good food. Some good package deals if you book online. Rooms are above average. Beds are just about ready to be replaced and linen bedcovers should be implemented instead of comforters.

We were here for a friends wedding. I can say they did a wonderful job with that. The scenery and the peacefulness of the location is amazing. The staff were very friendly. We first got there a little early and ate at the restaurant by the golf course (19th hole, I believe it was called) It was ok, the staff was very friendly there. The main restaurant wasn't open yet at that time. But there was no way we were going to eat there anyway, as the prices for the food there were atrocious. The breakfast buffet however was really nice and at least affordable. One downfall is, we tried to order some fruit for our child through the in-room service but they said they had no fruit at all. so we were forced to drive into town to the grocery store.
The room we had was quite spacious however was in desperate need of renovations. everything in the room was outdated and needed to be brought into this century.
Overall this place is nice, but with some renovations and a re-think on the price of food as well as making it a little more hospitable for children this place could be amazing. There was really nothing for my child to do here, Oh and maybe invest in a couple more booster seats/highchairs
I get that this place is a golf course and a casino, but if they are going to have weddings and other functions they have to expect that there are going to be children coming, so a little more for the children would be nice. There is also a pool, however it's only an outdoor pool. I wanted to take my child swimming but I couldn't because it was too cold to take her to an outside pool in the fall, maybe a re-think about having an indoor pool??

Again a nice place but a lot to do to make it great.

I'm not so sure if I would come back here again.
