“Wow just wow!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014

I have been here before when it first opened and the venue is still clean and modern looking with delightful rooms with comfortable seating and kitchen facilities. The best bit really is the service. Nothing is too much for the staff there. they went over and above helping me with all my requirements. The spa was good but not the best I have had in terms of treatments, but really a lovely stay on the whole. The bridge nearby does create a din and maybe you would like to choose a room further away if that sort of thing disturbs you. Swimming pool, hot tub and spa can make this a great getaway. The restaurant next door, Locals, is also wonderful. An upmarket place to eat and only steps from the hotel.

Room Tip: Don't stay near the metal bridge

We were very pleased with our overnight stay at the Old House Hotel and Spa. The exterior and front entrance of the hotel are very lovely, and the front reception very professional and welcoming. The spa entrance is situated to one side of the front lobby. Before settling into our room we had a brief look around and saw a few families enjoying the sunny, outdoor pool area. We were pleased with our room. It contained a nicely set up kitchen area and the bathroom was very nice with a separate tub and glassed-in shower. If I had to criticize any aspect of the hotel it would be the "odd" (I had never seen one like it before) rubbery bedspread. I definitely prefer the white sheet and duvet system. The following morning we tried out the complimentary breakfast bar. We had decided to eat at Locals (a top rated restaurant on the property), but since Locals doesn't open until 10 am we had a small snack to keep us going. I thought the breakfast bar was nicer than many I have seen. There was a small refrigerator with cream cheese for the bagels and good quality yogurt. The coffee was of a good quality. There was fresh fruit out and the usual cereals and breads. All in all I thought the overnight stay was very good. The hotel is beautifully situated along the Old River Walk. ps. the mattress quality was a 10 out of 10 - my back felt fantastic the next morning!

Excellent hotel & Service
Although the Old House Restaurant ( now called Locals )
Is operated independently, it was a very pleasant surprise to dine at and certainly enhanced my stay.
I also appreciated your follow up service by your hotel staff.

Yours truly
David W Rawlings

Spent one night at Old House Village Hotel in May 2014 and were very satisfied with the room given to our party of 3 adults. We got a suite with full kitchen in the hotel's second building. The room was very comfortable with a king bed in the bedroom and and a fold out queen bed in the sitting room. The room was facing the walking and bicycle path at the back of the hotel, which ensured a quiet location. (We found the alternative (a room with 2 double beds in the main building to be too crammed). The hotel gave a better impression than the usual chain hotels do.

We had dinner in the restaurant, called Locals, which is in the compound of the hotel, but does not belong to the hotel. The food and the ambiance of the restaurant was excellent.

The only minor negative remark about of our stay is that the breakfast next morning was not of the same standard as the rest of the hotel. The breakfast, which was included in the room rate, was offered in a bare meeting room with 3 long tables covered with tablecloths that bore witness of use by the earlier customers. The choice was rather basic. In our opinion the hotel could have done itself the service of shaping up this room since the rest of the hotel is good looking. Small tables, wall decorations or a room with a view to the garden or the pool would have improved the impression tremendously. We were not allowed to bring the food to the pool side, so we brought it to our suite.

Overall very lovely stay at the old house for the girlfriends getaway package. I would have given it a five if not for three issues. The continental breakfast is pathetic and in all honesty, should not even be offered if they can't supply a little more choice. Stale bagels, a bowl of apples, does not make a continental breakfast in my books. And the confusion created because the staff forgot to give us the spa voucher was unfortunate. The only other minor thing is that the window did not open! We were on the pool side, ground floor, so leaving our door open for some fresh air while we slept was not really an option so the room became quite stuffy. Aside from that, staff was accommodating and friendly, the hotel is very clean, beds are comfortable, the pool is lovely and we had a relaxing, peaceful, and fun stay and would definitely return and recommend. Another plus is that the hotel is adjacent to a fabulous restaurant (Locals) where we had an exceptional meal.

Room Tip: Request a room on the river side and not on the ground floor if you want privacy but you also want t...

the room smelled clean when we walked in (but was a little dusty), Great! The room was newer and in good repair, awesome! Separate shower and bath, nice! Beds were clean and no bed bugs, fabulous! Light breakfast with good orange juice, but stale muffins and bagels, and no gluten free stuff, limited fruit to choose from, but was still good to have the options. Great service at the front desk, always wonderful! The underground parking had a really gross smell so we didn't park there, but still had great parking close to the front door. Our room overlooked the pool and was really quiet, wonderful.

Excellent place to stay while in the Comox Valley.
I highly recommend it although it may appear a little expensive, but in comparison to thers in the area it was well worth the extra.
If the could offer a cooked breakfast it would be perfect.
The outdoor swimming pool and hot tub were excellent.
