Food was good, but service a bit slow, during busy periods. Seemed unable to cope with full house. Menu has nice variety

We've had breakfast, lunch and dinner in the Timber Room several times over the past few years. We hadn't been to Courtenay for some time, and decided since we were in the area to stop for lunch. The Crown Isle Golf Resort is so beautiful, and the grounds have always been kept immaculate. We arrived around 1:00 on a Sunday, and were lucky to find a window seat as very busy. The service was good, and the 4 of us enjoyed the selections we chose. The views over their grounds and the mountains are really spectacular. If you're there on a warm sunny day, it is nice to dine out on the outdoor patio.

The Timber Room has a terrific view of the golf course, and some good draught beers. I'm a big fan of their menu too. It could use some more TVs, but the nice looking waitresses make up for that shortcoming.

I had lunch there with two friends. We had a table by the window, the views were great and the fireplace was blazing. The venue is spacious and comfortable. Our server was pleasant, attentive but unobtrusive, which was appreciated.
The food, however, was mediocre. Not bad, merely average. My spinach salad was okay, pretty plain-jane and lacking any special flourish one would expect since it isn't inexpensive there, My friends' lunches were similarly uninspired-looking - they were eyeing my salad, which was telling. None of us said, "wow, this is delicious", an expression other restaurants around here can elicit.
Something that would probably have improved the lunch experience for me would have been a teapot that pours properly. Two of us had tea and the tea dribbling everywhere was quite annoying. The pots are "cute", but were certainly not purchased by someone who drinks tea. It is quite off-putting to have to mop up the mess which inevitably occurs when using these pots with their useless spouts, and no one needs to be "put off" when out for a meal with friends.
I would go back for the venue, but I won't be rushing back for the food (or the tea).

Recently had breakfast with friends. Two of us had plain pancakes instead of the glammed up version listed on the menu for $11. The pancakes were smallish compared to other facilities and only 3. At that size should have been at least 4. Also were charged the same -- $11. For 3 unassuming small pancakes. I don't think so! The others 2 meals wer o.k.
