Owner description: Come and join us for the most spectacular Whale Watching, Grizzly Bear Expedition and Wildlife Tours in your life! From April 1st until mid-October, Eagle Eye Adventures Tours offers Whale Watching, Ocean rapids/Wildlife tours and of course our magnificent Grizzly Bear Expeditions. Your adventure starts at Campbell River’s Discovery Harbour Marina. Come and explore the beautiful central coast of British Columbia – one of the best places in the world to observe whales, grizzly bears, and other wildlife. Eagle Eye Adventures Tours have been named as one of the top 2 best things to do in Canada by European travel agencies. Our tours are a terrific base for photography and viewing diverse wildlife. With a maximum of 12 guests on each tour, we can personalize your wilderness adventure, and help you put those animals on your life list. From right in Campbell River, you can hop onto one of our boats and head out on the waters of Johnstone Strait, and Desolation Sound, off the Discovery Islands, and sometimes even the Sunshine Coast to watch a pod of Orcas or to witness a Humpback Whale breaching the surface. Porpoises and Dolphins can often be seen playing in the wake of our boats. What we love about the wilderness here is that it is still wild! Our straights and open waterways are what we’re famous for. The unique currents caused by ebbing and flooding tides support a food chain that starts with phytoplankton up through herring, salmon, dolphins, seals, orcas and humpback whales. On land, you can find cinnamon, black, and grizzly bears, deer, elk, cougar, wolves, and of course eagles, watching you as you watch them. Not only can we show you these magnificent creatures, but we can also give you a better understanding of the complex ecosystem which supports these animals. We work closely with other tour companies and scientists to protect our environment and are candidates to be named a World Whale Heritage Site. We are doing everything we can to preserve our whales for the future. The best way to see Grizzly Bears in their natural habitat is to join us on our covered boat and ride in comfort to Bute Inlet and the mouth of the Orford River. This is home to a significant concentration of coastal grizzlies. During the late summer and early autumn, bears are drawn to the many salmon spawning streams feeding into the coastal inlets. While the local bear population reaches its peak in the autumn, during the spring and summer bears feed on sedges, succulents, and grasses that make up the river estuary. These ongoing sources of high-quality food are why coastal grizzlies and brown bears are larger than inland bears. Don’t miss this unforgettable opportunity to witness the wildlife of Vancouver Island along some of the most majestic coastlines in the world!

“Best Experience Yet!!”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

Amazing! We loved our guide and our experience was above and beyond. We were able to see eagles, seals, sea lions, dolphins and Orcas on our excursion. At the beginning we saw everything except the orcas which is exactly what I really had want to see and as our time was coming to a close it looked like I may not get my chance. Then suddenly in our last few minutes we spotted a pod of 8 orcas. Our guide let us stay over an hour extra as we followed the pod and they ended up meeting up with 4 other pods! Over 30 Orcas in one excursion! Such an amazing experience I recommend this company to everyone. The guide also provides a hot drink and snack... And don't worry ladies there's a washroom on board too!!

“a trip to remember”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

Josh was just the perfect host on a great adventure trip. We encountered humpback whales and a fantastic family of orca's and without disturbing them at all we managed to stay in their company for more than 2 hours. He also showed us the most wonderful rapids. A big recommendation from us.

“Unforgettable experiences”
Reviewed 21 February 2014

We took 2 trips in 2 days, both were incredible. While not necessarily the most prolific appearance of animals, the depth of knowledge Jos possesses had us feeling a bond with the land its people and animal life. Captivated the whole time.

“We can't wait to come back!”
Reviewed 21 February 2014

We had an amazing experience on our first whale watching trip! It was definitely one of the highlights of our summer. We spent a gorgeous day on the ocean in the zodiac...the ride alone was a blast! The bonus was the sunshine, breathtaking panoramic views, salty sea spray, and of course seeing some WHALES! We saw eagles, dolphins, orcas, and a HUGE humpback known as Houdini! A delicious, healthy sandwich lunch was served. We called ahead to request a vegetarian option and they were happy to accommodate us. Survival suits were provided and we felt very safe during the duration of our trip. It was a bit of a bumpy ride at times, but that's what made it so fun! Jos, our guide was informative, skilled and extremely friendly...my trip ended with a big hug! Check out his amazing wildlife photography. Please sure to dress comfortably, and don't forget to bring your own camera to capture the beauty. (just be sure to keep it protected from the sea spray)

“Five stars for the whale watching, two for the grizzly tour”
Reviewed 16 October 2013

We really liked their whale watching tour. The zodiacs are pretty fast and maneuverable, they are sufficiently comfortable and feel safe. We went quite a distance, more than I would have expected. We saw many orcas, plus dolphins, sea lions andf an eagle. The scenery there is wonderful, much better than a whale watching tour on the open sea! Five stars for that.

Later, we also booked their grizzly tour. Compared to the whale watching, this was a bit disappointing. You go about two hours by zodiac to get to a small first nation people village. Then you get on a van and drive to some spots where you can see grizzlies. We saw some, but our freedom on the tour was rather limited. We spent too much time with 12 people in an old dusty cramped van, there was not enough time to be just out there. With 4-5 groups at the spot at the same time, nature feeling was limited anyway. Sorry, only two stars for that.

Thanks for your review, we really appreciate this, it's a good feedback towards us.
I'm really happy that you gave us 5 stars for the whale watch, that's one of the things we try to set as our goal.

I also must say that this year we had some challenges with the grizzly trips, as we are depending on the natives that are actually guiding the tours.
It is not a department from Eagle Eye adventures!

We will send this review towards the Holmalco band as well and see if we can working something out for the future.
We will work on this, so we can get your 5 stars on this this trip in the future as well.

Thanks again for your review, Jos Krynen
