Let me first say that the owners names are Alan and Grace and they are the first to come and greet you. They are excited that you are there to be in their "home away from home" and will make every attempt to make you feel that way. This will sound ridiculous but I was amazed at the fact that I didn't hear roosters in this barangay. For me that was a pleasant surprise because I like the quietness. The barangay also has no motor tricycles or jeepneys going by ... another plus for me! While the neighborhood looks a bit 'scary' at first it is far from that. I brought filipino relatives and friends over to the resort and we walked the streets at night feeling quite safe. People there were very friendly and accommodating. Cool Martin Hotel and Resort, Cavite Philippines

Alan is an English gentleman and has earned those rights of being a gentleman. From what I have learned he is the founder of The Martin Conquest. A very famous and well known builder of motorcycles that accommodate wheelchairs. I remember very well when his product was highlighted on The Discovery Channel and that I immediately recognized him from that episode! His wife Grace is quite the worker bee. She is from Butuan on the island of Mindanao and they have been married (at the time of this post) for seven years. She is constantly doing something on the grounds and does it always with an incredible smile. Together with their small daughter they run the Cool Martin Resort and Spa.

Yes, I was shocked! They have a real working spa complete with the wood and steam bath you would expect. Alan told me that at first he wanted to just simply have a retirement home there in Cavite but as money siphoned-off from his business he wanted to create an income there in the Philippines. After his home was built he began to purchase and renovate the buildings aroud him to turn them into working apartments. The result is a home built around a home.

A beautiful patio area surrounded in the traditional bamboo with bamboo tables and chairs. For those of you that grew up in America you will immediately find yourself in a Gilligan's Island sort of setting. There is a wonderful pool, dart boards, Karaoke room and the bedrooms are lavish for the type of money you will spend here. One time Alan was so upset at the presentation of my breakfast by his staff he made them completely remake the spread. I think I was just missing butter or something of that nature but Alan wants his Filipina staff to know that he is serious about customer service.

Cool Martin Hotel and Resort, Cavite Philippines He will let you bar-b-queue anything you bring in on the premise for no extra charge. You are invited to bring your own drinks although their San Miguel was only 25 pesos. The water was absolutely free (something you don't find in a hotel at all) and there is a refrigerator full of other soft drinks as well. I really wish that the hotel staff cooked both lunch and dinner meals but they do allow you to order anything off the breakfast menu at any time during the day. There is also room service! If not, there is a short walk over to SM Bacoor Mall and that mall is full of eating establishments including my favorite, Burger King (ha ha).

Cool Martin Hotel and Resort, Cavite Philippines Over all I find this little home away from home to be the perfect spot as a base over staying in Manila. My room was only 1600 PHP a night and it was an outstanding facility.

Bacoor isn't an obvious tourist spot, but there are easy means of transport to Manila (private driver and car, organised by Alan, 600PHP; jeepneys, air-conditioned buses), and to Tagaytay and Batangas (both interesting, beautiful places to see).

You can walk to the main road (about 8 minutes) or go by tricycle: 7PHP per person.

Coolmartin in Remedios, tucked away just off the main road, a short walk from the SM Shopping Mall, offers pool and sauna visits for non-residents paid per hour, self-catering family rooms, apartments, studio flats and hotel rooms. There is a (medium-sized) pool, a karaoke room and a sauna, too. As already commented, Coolmartin is not big and not luxurious. However, it's really fine for small groups, couples and solos, especially those on a tight budget. Everything is as uncomplicated as possible.
The (cooked) breakfast was excellent, and Alan himself made ham and tomato sandwiches for us the morning we had to leave, as our departure at 4.00 a.m was long before breakfast serving time.

We didn't get the room intended for us, but the staff arranged another room more or less instantly (Room 2), with a fridge (even bigger hotels in the Philippines don't always provide one!) and TV. The bathroom was small but clean and entirely manageable. It was a pity the window in the room looked out on to a wall. It felt a bit confined and dark.

In contrast to other comments, we found the staff very cheery, obliging and helpful. Alan himself is a charming, approachable, straightforward man, anxious to look after his guests. We enjoyed the "personal" touch and engagement.

The bar is small, but San Mig is only 25PHP a bottle (330ml). That's VERY cheap!

There are plans for extensions and more development (including a business and conference centre). We wish Coolmartin every success!

Room Tip: Book early! If you don't like Karaoke (but it doesn't go on late at night), ask for a room t...

I felt immediately welcomed when the owner, Martin, came out to greet us when our cab arrived. He called me by name, even though this was my first visit. He is from England and a very friendly chap. His wife is Filipina and they live at the resort. The resort is small, rustic, NOT your 5 star hotel by any means, but the friendly and warm nature of the owners and staff more than make up for it. After just a few minutes talking with Martin I felt almost like we were old friends. He gave me a beer for free, then offered me a scotch!. They have a nice swimming pool, a restaurant/bar area (although the menu is very limited), a Karioli room, and coin laundry on the premises. And breakfast is always free. It is situated in a poor village in a residential zone so it may not be everyone's cup of tea. But you can feel relaxed and be treated like a valued human being rather than just a paying customer.

This review came a little bit late. My whole family stayed here for a day last January to celebrate the first birthday of our youngest son. Let me begin with the positive things:

1. Booking is easy. The owner Alan who is a nice and friendly gentleman is very easy to talk with and he confirmed my booking even without a down payment. His wife is also accommodating and ready to assist anytime.
2. The location is convenient inside a residential area which is near to some commercial places
3. The main unit that we rented is big enough for a group of 10 and equipped with a kitchen where you can do some cooking.
4. They have a karaoke room where you can sing your heart out the whole day without disturbing other people.
5. They have a Jacuzzi attached to the pool that our kids enjoyed.
6. They also have a bar just in case you want to have something to drink
7. There is also a sauna just beside the pool but we never tried it
8. They also have a table tennis (ping pong) where you can spend some fun time

Now the not so positive things:

1. The pool and the place itself is very small. It is not what it seems if you will base your expectation from the description and photos in the website.
2. There is no catering service or restaurant inside so you have to make sure to bring your own food. In fairness it was clearly mentioned to me during booking.
3. They don’t have a front desk where they can entertain inquiring guests. It is supposed to be a private resort where you can enjoy private time with your friends and family. Unfortunately during our stay some people came inquiring about the resort acting like big shots that disturbed our supposed to be private family bonding.
4. Generally their staffs are polite but not all are well trained. When we are about to leave the resort, one staff that just reported to her shift arrived and checked our room which for me is just perfectly fine since it just a simple routine in all resorts and hotels. However she tried to hold us asking for some towels. I told her that we were not given towels and we brought our own. She rudely said "you wait while I check", insinuating that we may have taken their towels. After calling someone on the phone it was confirmed that I am telling the truth. She just simply said you can go as if she is sending a beggar away without even bothering to apologize for her offensive attitude or simply thank us for patronizing their resort. My wife and I felt so insulted and that really ruined our supposed to be enjoyable stay at the resort. But being an even-tempered person I just let the incident passed and never bothered to complain to the owner.

Overall the resort is nice for a small family gathering or celebration for not more than 20 people but not good enough if you will have a bigger group specially with a bunch of kids running around because the place is just too small. Frankly speaking I will not consider coming back to this place again simply because it falls short of my expectations and most importantly because of that very rude staff . It’s a pity because the couple who owns the place Alan and his wife are really very nice folks.
