Despite the answering machine telling us that the Café would not be opened until "next March", the place was very open...and how!! From the first welcome, giving us our preferred seating in a superbly welcoming and personal manner, quickly followed by an apéro and wonderful amuse bouche, we were on what turned out to be a most pleasant culinary journey. Very nice food, well prepared and beautifully presented, reasonable priced good selection of wines - all in a nice setting with amazing service from Max and team. Despite the place being almost full, service remained very personal and attentive during the evening. To top it all off, the setting is magical - right underneath the Castle - but if you prefer, the inside is quite special too, combining the rocks with the modern restaurant architecture. We liked it a lot, it was one of the highlights of our visit to Baux, Arles, St Remy & region. Highly recommended - we'll be back as soon as possible!!

Come here hungry!

My husband and I had lunch here today. It was the coldest and windiest day of our 10 day trip so far, so we were early for our lunch reservations. We got there right when the cafe opened, and got the best table in the house.

The cafe is well located in the heart of Les Baux-de-Provence, just beneath the walls of the Chateau des Baux. There is a charming, quiet outdoor terrace and nicely decorated indoor dining room all done in purple and black. It was WAY too cold to eat outside!

This was a real find, the cafe was hip, the tunes were great and the food was divine. They really know what they are doing in the kitchen. The food presentation was art on a plate!

I had a tomato basil sorbet amuse bouche that I rated as A+. Larry's was also an A+! Puréed peas and mint with whipped cream.

Our 1st course was the duo of fois gras terrine - 1 was wrapped in bacon and the other was smoked with olive wood. We both rated this as an A-.

Our main course was the beef filet glazed with fennel with thyme jus and saffron, with potato cakes and steamed carrots, zucchini , cherry tomatoes and onion. We both rated this as an A.
The meat was so tender, it was delicious!

You will want to order desserts here, as Chef Pierre won the prize "Champion de France de Desserts." My husband ordered one of his prize winning desserts - the Provençal Trilogy, that was almost too pretty to eat. Very memorable was the Creme Brulee just scented with lavender, the Chocolate Pyramide made of 72% cacao, and vanilla ice cream made with olive oil from Les Baux. He rated it as an A.

I can't eat anything with milk or cream, so I got Apricot, strawberry and grapefruit sorbets that I rated A-.

We really liked this place. With only 8 tables and 1 waiter, he was very friendly and did an amazing job. We would both highly recommend this cafe when you are in or near Les Baux!

This restaurant is well located in the heart of Les Baux-de-Provence, just beneath the walls of the Chateau des Baux. There is a charming, quiet outdoor terrace and nicely decorated indoor dining room. Come hungry! You will want to order desserts as Chef Pierre won the prize "Champion de France de Desserts" We ordered his prize winning dessert "Delice au Chocolat", a fabulous torte made with several layers of different chocolates from around the word, that was almost too pretty to eat. We also ordered a sampler which featured 7 of his desserts and WOW, each was better than the last. Very memorable was the Creme Brulee just scented with lavender. Going backwards, the duck entree had a perfectly balance cherry sauce and a cod-like fish topped with tomato and finely minced chorizo was subtlety flavored, Our appetizers, duck pate and goat cheese wrapped in filo and topped with honey were also delicious.

The memorable dining experience was matched by our meeting with Chef Heloise and Pierre. We were over one hour late for our reservation (!) and they graciously decided to seat us even though the terrace service was closed. Chef Heloise was serving due to a sick waiter and spent time explaining the dishes to us AND even some of the techniques used in preparing the dishes. Chef Pierre greeted us and we felt very special.

This was a very memorable meal and I highly recommend Cafe des Baux.

In the heart of the splendid village of the Baux-de-Provence, a nice terrace, don't forget to book in advance, first menu (2 courses) for 20 euros, quality products (lamb from Provence). Trendy decortion(benches with cushions, candles,...) Sometimes a bit too elaborated, some dishes could be just as good with more simplicity. This is also true for the head-waiter... that we didn't find discreet and classy enough, although some clients could find him funny and enjoy the show.
