We stayed in a room with a "terrace" (garden). The ponds and pools and gardens surrounding it were everything one could imagine. We originally were just going for dinner - then we decided to stay overnight - then we decided to explore the castle near by and stay for lunch on the patio - then - we really needed to get back to our hotel in Marseilles (!). The best overall meal in a 3 week tour of Europe: service and food were stunning and we felt so comfortable! Everyone working there was smiling - it is a beautiful place and its nice that providing that level of service seems to come so effortlessly!

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the buildings that was down the road a bit by the spa - the grounds were incredi...

We actually had been confirmed for a ground floor room with a terrace, but they gave us a second floor room with no terrace. I complained, but they had no rooms to switch us to. They should have done something as an apology. Offered us breakfast, drinks, something. They did nothing and I thought were kind of rude about it. They were the only place that did not upgrade us (they downgraded us) and no gift of any kind was left in the room. The room itself was very large with a large bathroom. But the windows were small so it was not a bright room. We did not get breakfast and they did not have coffee available in the room, which is strange. I just did not like this place. Once we checked in, we did not see another person until we left.

This inn is located in an incredible part of Southern France, has nice gardens and an excellent spa and restaurant, but the hotel operation is second rate. The rooms are expensive and not worth the price. The interiors and furniture are tired and warn, they are not properly cleaned nor otherwise maintained, and the bath amenities are so meager that you could cut yourself with the tiny bar of soap. The hotel staff fawns over the French speaking guests and pays no attention to those who speak English--the first response to any of our requests was "No". We even had a huge hole in an interior wall which had not been addressed. The front desk seems to take great delight in ignoring Americans. This inn charges for every thing including bottled water--one expects expensive lodgings to greet you with a fruit plate and some bottled water and you won't find any of that at Cabro. The beds are small and short.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else and make spa or dinner reservations at Cabro.

The location is fantastic and the hotel looks nice.
But for almost 2900 EUR for 4 nights I simply expect top notch service and attention to detail.

We stayed in a suite, the website clearly states that all suites include a separate sitting room, however our suite did not include a separate sitting room???

On our second day the room was not cleaned until 5 pm, and that only after calling the reception who were blaming it on some sort of confusion, which can happen. But what bugs me is that at no point we were offered an excuse.

Back to the room, that opens up to a private terrace, lovely. It would have even be more lovely if it actually would have been swept once in a while, which it was not. Furthermore an empty wine bootle on the table was ignored for 2 days until I finally put it in the trash myself.

Breakfast comes at whopping 23 EUR per person. We like to eat ours in the room, what you get on the tray for that price is simply an insult.

The evening turn down service was minimal (only 1 time during our stay). No customary chocolate or sweet on the pillow which for a 5 star hotel I find disappointing.

No flowers or small fruit basket in the room, which is always a nice detail in a hotel of this price class.

The TV is very small and offers mostly french channels. I was looking for a channel guide, but never found one. Wifi in the room is not reliable, sometimes it works fine and sometimes it just doesn't. It is however free.

While the hotel cannot control the weather, it certainly could place umbrellas in the rooms.

We wanted to try the restaurant, but after reading the reviews we decided against it. Instead we had some lovely meals in the surrounding areas.

Anyway not all was bad. Good spa and the garden surrounding the hotel is well kept and gives a cosy feeling.
If you come by car they offer good parking possibilities.

It just does not get better than this! I first visited the Baumaniere for lunch almost forty years ago, and have been back on a number of occasions. This month (May) we stayed for four nights on a gastronomic package (2 amazing dinners and all the breakfasts included) that we felt was very good value. Our beautiful ground floor room, with a private garden where we had breakfast every morning, was in Le Manoir, about 900 metres from the hotel. When we dined at the hotel we walked to the restaurant along a poppy flanked path and through a quiet village street, and were given a lift back by the hotel staff (just as well!). Without exception all the staff were friendly and very professional, not at all stand-offish, somehow managing to be invisible and attentive at all the right moments. As for the food, I have never eaten better or more beautifully presented food. Roll on our next visit to les Alpilles!

We enjoyed this chateau. Views, peacefulness, and food. Room was very clean and roomy. We had a terrace - highly recommend. We had the tasting menu the first night. One of the best of our two-week trip in Europe. Courses were paired with wine. Unbelievable, unique tastes. Romantic and fun evening. Highly recommend. Do not go to Les Baux. Touristy and busy. Stay at the chateaux!

We stayed for 2 nights at the Cabro D'Or for a wedding - the wedding party was held there too. The wedding was fabulous. The hotel is a disaster.
We paid 345 euros per night for the room. For that, you would expect something rather wonderful. The room was never cleaned, the solitary water bottle never replenished, the extortionate mini-bar never filled. I asked, at 1.30pm, whether I could have a salad in the restaurant, which was declined. So we ordered room service. Three miniscule plates turned up - barely enough for a starter for 1 - and we had 70 euros lifted for the privilege. The tray and dirty plates were still in situ when we arrived back at 11pm that night. Nice. Towels not changed, sink not cleaned, furnishings pretty cheap - I could go on.
For the price, you might expect breakfast thrown in. No such luck. The breakfast buffet was hilariously funny - practically non-existent, for which you were charged 28 euros.
Walking through the restaurant on the night of the wedding party, I heard two 'staff' members swearing about the guests and saying they wanted us to 'Fxxx off' as they wanted to go to bed. It was 10.30pm.
We never complain, life is too short. But prospective visitors really do need to know how breathtakingly bad this hotel is. It is allegedly five star - it certainly charges five star prices - but it would be 2.5 - 3 star at best. Rude, haughty, surly staff, with an attitude that we were lucky to be allowed to stay, a general sense that we are not worthy - this is not a quirky, French attitude, it is downright rude and offensive, not least because of the prices they are charging. Provence is beautiful. There are some lovely hotels in the very near vicinity of this hotel, but avoid The Cabro D'Or like the plague.

Room Tip: There aren't any good rooms.
