I see a few low ratings for this place and I guess it all depends on what sort of person you are and how fussy you are about a couple of things. I'll try be neutral and let the reader make up their mind.

The best thing about this place is we were literally right on the beach. Such a beautiful beach too, we had hammocks right out front but it was lovely to just relax on our balcony (maybe it isn't called a balcony on stilted bungalow). Within twenty minutes of me sitting on the front a little puppy came up my stairs and he jumped up and just laid on me all happy.

The location was perfect for us, it wasn't in the massively touristy area on the other part of the island but there were shops and restaurants just a short walk away which is ideal. I did hire a scooter from a local guy to tour the amazing island but thats for a different review.

The bungalows are huts on stilts. If you don't expect them to be hotel standard you will be fine. They could maybe do with sprucing up but the bed was comfy, the fan kinda kept us cool and there was a shower.

The shower is cold, some may hate this but having major sunburn at the time, I loved it. My only two gripes about the room is the mosquito net didn't reach the floor, which it should, and the towels weren't cleaned (One of my pet hates in hotels because I like clean towels and was resorted to rinsing them in the shower and drying them off in the sun).

The staff are very nice friendly people, and as other people have mentioned they are slow at taking orders, I waited half hour for one cocktail when there was hardly anyone there. However, we did find this attitude in a lot of the islands restaurants and I think maybe island people are just ridiculously laid back.

All in all we loved our stay, I would stay at the same place again because the location was simply amazing.

Advice: faster service, clean towels, a bit of fresh paint in the rooms.

If you prefer being away from the trouiristy areas and prefer a sitting right on the beach then this place is ideal.

Room Tip: Choose one on at the front right on the beach.

The Pawapi bungaloo was close from the beach (100m) which is really nice. It was a duplex with aircon at bottom floor and fan at top floor. Design was nice with wood and bamboo.
No wifi though.

However, the guy who did the electrics and plumbing must be a tuktuk driver cause it wasn't his job. It´s a half-witted job. You can either have hot water and no lights or cold water and lights. Either way you won't have much pressure in the shower and it will take a while to take the sand off you. And there are no electric plugs. And the AC is right above your head so be ready to be sick.

Yet the worst was the sloweeeeest restaurant, probably in all Thailand. To serve 4 people with no one else, it takes 3 persons and 1h. We believe they only have 3 plates, hence they couldn't serve us all together. To get cocktails it takes 20mn. They just don't care :) especially Phan (young boy) and Queen (young girl) that purposely ignored us as we arrived at the restaurant so they don't have to take our order.
My best memory is when we left the restaurant after 2h sitting.

I would like to thank Bird in particular that made our stay better as he truely cared about us. He was sometimes working at the restaurant and was really nice to us. We offered him a wine bottle as a thank you.

For the same price go to Sivalai next door. It looks much better ;-)

Room Tip: if you eat at the restaurant, order 1 day before ;-)

Clearly you either love this place or not and we love it. We returned in January this year even though last year we thought the service was poor and thankfully the new management team have improved things considerably. A grateful thanks to Nun who could not have been more helpful when we needed to re-arrange flights.
The rooms are basic and that is part of their charm, but their location on a white sandy beach means that if you are awake early enough you are rewarded by a stunning sunrise. A few minutes walk into the village offered a number of reasonably priced eating places as well as supermarkets. There is no doubt that we will return and for longer next time

Find another place to stay. There is only one good thing to say About this place and that is the Beach.
The bamboo hut was dirty, the mosquitonet were very very dirty, almost grey. Only cold water in the shower. The staff was not helpfull, they did not speak and understand any english, the food is terrible, me and my husband got sick, so did 2 other people, during our 3 days there. No clean towels, althoug we put them at the floor, ..
There is a lot of noice from many longtail boats, we know it is and Island with local Fischermen , but did not expect so much noice, also at Night , absolutely not the paradise we dream about.. We have been traveling around in Thailand for a month, this place is Not worth the price.. We will never be back!!!

It seems that your stay with us totally not what we strive to be, which is simple charming accommodation and friendly service on a beautiful beach. We apologies for that. We have now replaced our management team including the General Manager.
In the service sector it is often the way with hotels that they pay 'lip service' to the complaints of customers. Please believe that from the very start we wanted Pawapi to be different - to be better - to have heart and soul. when we get it wrong, and it is obvious in your case we did, we take your comments seriously and do our bes to put it right. We believe we have now done that.

Sincere apologies

Best regards

We booked 4 nights at Pawapi Resort with my wife and two young children.
Unfortunately our one year old became sick from an illness contracted on a previous island and had to be rushed to hospital in Trang. The staff here were excellent and looked after us like a family during this difficult time. providing assistance and getting us to hospital immediately. I found all the staff to be truly wonderful. They are all so helpful especially Nun, Bird , Yut and Queen and Phan too. Whenever we needed something they were always very happy to assist.
The beach is exceptional and as good as any I’ve visited in other parts of the world. The rooms are very clean with fantastic views across the sea, with cotton sheets changed every day. We loved watching the sun rise every morning from our porch and playing in the warm sea with our kids. I haven't got a bad word to say about this place. We came back for a further two days and will return for another three at the end of our journey.
I would highly recommend Pawapi and will be very sad to leave.
Thank you to all at Pawapi for an amazing time. Big Love the Cosens family.

Room Tip: We loved room 4 on the front row, great view and gentle sea breeze to keep cool

I had such a fantastic time in Koh Muk! The Pawapi Resort ticked all of the boxes for myself and my traveling companions.
We arrived and had lunch (as we were famished after out long journey) and the meal was delicious - as were the subsequent meals that we purchased there. Maybe a little on the pricey side for us, but worth the splurge on occasion.
Although there were minimal staff working throughout our stay, the overall experience was personal and friendly. The staff were always polite and modest, while managing to show their genuine Thai smile.
We stayed in a beachfront bungalow, which was neat and had a laid-back feel. The bungalow was a tidy and simple wooden room, that projected an authentic feel. Mosquito nets were provided and worked a treat..Great to see fly-screens also!
Being an animal-lover there were lots of puppies and dogs to get to know on the island. The resort's unofficial dog was the best! She had a very beautiful nature and loved to dig up and chase crabs.
Koh Muk and Pawapi proved to be such a relaxing escape from the craziness of 'Tourist Ravaged Thailand'.
I would love to return one day :)

We only regret that we hadn't read all bad judgement before booking this resort. Three nights at Pawapi was à nightmare. We have travelld all over Thailand for 15 years and visited many Island resort in different prices. Pawapi is far to expensive and do not compensarion in any other way.
The rooms never gets cleaned and is full of mosquitos and cockroches.
It is almost impossible to get anything to eat and the staff is a joke.
The manager had given up trying. There was only one male employee that know the word "service". He made his very best to drive us to Charlie Beach with the boat or bike. He also sprayed room for mosquitos and did his very best.
Pawapi is not worth the price and we should not go back even for free.

We are very sorry to hear your stay with us was not a happy one. As you can see from our other reviews this is an unusual occurrence. We would like to say that we have now changed the management team and solved a few ongoing difficulties. Our new manager, a man of great experience and reputation, has implemented new systems and we are confident he has got it right.
We would be very happy if you decide to give us another chance. Should you decide so please make yourself known to us and we will make every effort to make your holiday a standout experience.
Again, apologies.

Best regards
