My wife and I returned recently on our first wedding anniversary. For us too, the tea and cake in front of a lovely log fire made a memorable welcome. Lesley kindly put us in the same suite as our wedding night, which comprises a double room with a four poster bed, a large bathroom and another single room. She very kindly found a table in a local restaurant for us; and put the champagne I'd brought along on ice for us to come back to after dinner.
Waking to a view out over the snow covered park just added to the romance...

Good quality, local sourced, breakfast. The photos on their website are not misleading.
(No problems with hot water or pheasants as mentioned in an earlier review.)

If you are not familiar with Thornham, there are various length walks which are very well signposted, ranging from short strolls to something like 5 or 6 miles.

We'll be back again next year....

Found the Hall by sheer accident whilst browsing LateRooms...nothing could have prepared us as we drove up to the entrance, it was like stepping into a miniature version of Gosford Park. The owner greeted us with tea, coffee and home-made ginger cake, arranged for us to eat at a very good restaurant just down the road, port as a final nightcap...to sleep in a four-poster bed and wake up to the views over the lawn for not much cost than staying in an anonymous B&B or chain hotel was wonderful.
We will return...charming hostess, wonderful breakfast and a much-needed break for us both.

Room Tip: Go for the four-poster every time !

The house is in a great setting - we much enjoyed a comfy four-poster bed in a large airy room with splendid views. Excellent breakfast too. Nothing ultra modern, this is quiet, traditional country house comfort.

Set in parkland, thornham hall was a great place to stay. we were greeted with tea and cake overlooking the grounds. rooms were spacious and homely. You can't expect top spec bathrooms in a house of that age! (see moaning comments from a previous review) breakfast was exactly what was needed after a big night out. thank you lady lesley!
