What can we say?! Anne and Peter were the perfect hosts, and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. Our room was lovely, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. There was a very comfortable lounge for visitors to use, with lots of books and other information for our perusal. Even our clanking bottles on arrival, which I was trying to carry in quietly, were noted with an immediate comment from Anne "I expect you would like some wines glasses for those!" Breakfasts were amazing, wonderful choices and all lovely fresh ingredients, we even knew the names of the hens that had laid the eggs! Our hosts helped with suggestions on walks, things to do and places to eat etc, providing maps if required.

It was a great location from which to explore the southern and central part of the mainland, we had just stayed two nights in Lerwick, but if we went back I would stay with Anne and Peter and visit Lerwick from there, it's only 20 minutes by car.

My wife and I stayed at The Muckle Hus on the nights of 18th. and 19th. May. It is a very pretty cottage in a quiet, idyllic location half way between the airport and Lerwick. The owners are charming and helpful and the breakfasts were excellent. There were not many choices when looking for dinner. We wouldn't recommend Sumburgh, but we recommend the Scalloway Hotel.

Stayed three nights at this great little B&B - couldn't fault the welcome, the rooms, or the fabulous breakfast. Located about 20 miles south of Lerwick and great for the South of Shetland only seconds from a lovely beach and cliff top walking. Woken to sound of curlews! Beautifully decorated rooms and a snug lounge which was available if the weather was uncooperative. As with most of Shetland, evening dining can be a challenge - we ate at the Sumburgh hotel, about 15 minutes away - friendly and busy with good basic grub.

I would echo what everyone before me has said. This place is an absolute gem and well worthy of its 4 star status. The room I had was spacious, beautifully decorated and had the added bonus of wifi so I could keep up with mail. The breakfasts are to die for....I have never seen such fresh eggs in my life and the fruit salad was really yummy. The residents lounge is comfortable and very well furnished. What you see on their web site is definitely what you get. Although a drive from Lerwick it's well worth it to stay in such a beautiful little village.
As hosts, Anne and Peter are absolutely terrific and go out of their way to help with any query you might have.
All in all, I reckon this is probably the best B&B I've ever stayed in!

We have just returned from a trip to the Shetlands, and wished we could have stayed longer at Mucklehus. The rooms, views, hospitality and local walking couldn't have been better. If you're looking for accommodation and don't NEED to be in Lerwick, stay there!

We stayed with Anne and Peter for only two nights but wish it could have been for much longer. They were in the middle of a rather hectic, stressful, sad time but never made us feel 'in the way' or a nuisance. The house is in such a beautiful location, beach right by and cliff walks, small village and the house itself was so lovely (as were Anne's paintings). Just the two rooms which are ensuite, large and beautifully furnished with good quality bathroom fittings and the bed.......best sleep ever! Anne's breakfasts are just spot on, in a lovely setting of the small conservatory overlooking the lovely garden. Can honestly say that if we were going back to Shetland this place would be our top choice. Thank you Anne and Peter for your warm welcome and making us feel so at home.
