“Excellent food at a reasonable price”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2014

Based on our experience at this restaurant tonight I would recommend it for anyone who enjoys high quality French cuisine. If you stick with the table d`hote the price is very reasonable: soup, main course and dessert for $29, all of which was excellent. If you order from the a la carte menu, the prices are higher, in the $25 to $35 range for a main course. We were served by the co-owner and the service was very friendly and efficient. The restaurant is in an old house, with warm decor and attractive oil paintings on the walls. Overall a very enjoyable and memorable experience.

“Friendly, cozy and delicious...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2013

This was one of those discoveries that you wish would happen more frequently... The place is located in an old building which was a former school. It feels cozy as soon as you enter with the beautiful old wood floor and simple decoration. You are welcomed by Vivianne who is the co-owner with her husband Didier and in 5 minutes, you feel right at home...

The menu is built around solid classics which are perfectly prepared by the chef. his secret is to slow cook everything which tends to preserver the taste and the texture of each ingredients...

We had a 3 course dinner which was simply wonderful. I tried the sweetbreads which were one of the best (if not the best) I ever had while my wife enjoyed a superb piece of lamb cooked to perfection...

The wine list is short but had interesting choices for reasonable prices.

As the evening goes, the stress of the week feels further and further caught between the warmth, friendly service and the "make you feel good" plates...

A really wonderful place...

“Very good dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 September 2012

Based on the different reviews posted onTripadvisor, we decided to pay our first visit to l'Express Gourmand. Why such a name for a slow food restaurant?
Handy parking in the back of the restaurant. Booking was easy but we were asked to come 30 minutes before as they only do one sitting. OK decor, very friendly owner who services all the table. We had a very good dinner.
I had an onion tart with black pudding. The risotto with duck confit was very good as well.
To follow had a rack of lamb from Quebec and the short rib (cooked for 22 hours, the sauce could have had more body or reduction). Superior pudding chomeur for dessert.
Short but well balanced wine list. Great bread, don't know it was home baked.
A very nice dinner for $170.00.
We'll be back anytime.

“great food and atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2012

We followed advice from Trip Advisor and were not disappointed!! We had an excellent meal in this lovely little restaurant on 29 July 2012. We had the risotto and then the pudding chomeur and both were fab! The owners obviously put a lot of passion into their cooking and service. It was the highlight of our stop in St Adele and one of the culinary highlights of our trip to Canada.

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2012

Excellent french food made and served with passion! Small and cozy this renovated school house delivers fantastic fresh mouth watering meals. They specialize in slow cooked meats but everything they offer is top notch. This is the sort of restaurant where you can just relax and order anything you want from the menu and know it will be excellent, prepared with fresh produce with wonderful flavours and all the extras.

Very small, reservations recommended. Some outdoor eating, no air conditioning inside.
