What a beautiful location! And while the private beach is tiny, the water is clear and clean.
The outside is beautiful. Looks like a castle....i5s the inside that's dated and ugly. The main areas are decent & quaint, but the room building, at least the one in the back, reminds me of my first apartment building. Carpets are old and tacky. The rooms themselves are clean, but very dated. The beds are just okay for comfort.
I did enjoy the food and bar. They had the resto serving outside, and the buffet was great.
A great locale and a hotel with much potential is what i see. Not the worst, but rooms need updating ( again,I'm not sure if ALL rooms are so).

I am currently at the Chantecler with my husband on our first anniversary. We reserved an executive suite queen bed + queen pull out couch with a large balcony. When we arrived to check in at 4:15pm, we were made to wait in an awfully long queue for 40 minutes. They issued no apology for the wait. I double checked our reservation with the desk clerk before heading up to our room, and she confirmed everything I asked. At the same time I bought 30 minutes to rent 2 kayaks. My husband and I then proceded to our room which was a bloody maze with several flights of stairs, to find a tiny room with two double beds and no balcony, not to mention that it was stinking hot! We went back down to reception and they changed our room immediately, without an apology.

The executive suite is certainly substandard. Extremely outdated, filthy carpet, horrendous bathroom and very hot. The air conditioning does not work. Nevertheless, we got changed into our swimsuits and went down to enjoy the "private beach" and kayak. By the time we made it down it was 5:30pm and the boat rental shack closes at 6:00pm. To our luck, they do not have any kayaks and the girl who works there was confused as to why the reception sold us the ticket. She explained that all of their kayaks were broken and they only have 1 canoe and a few peddle boars. Extremely disappointed, we asked if we could take out a canoe instead. However, apparently switching of boat choices is not allowed!!! So, we requested beach towels to go for a swim, and to our astonishment, there weren't any left. So, no swimming for us......the lake is lovely and the outside of the hotel is quite charming, but don't let that fool you! This place needs to be re-vamped!!

The hotel staff are completely useless. I went in to let them know of the kayak situation and lack of towels, however no apology and no apparent excuse. I asked to speak with the manager, but apparently she was gone already and wouldn't be back until Monday. How convenient! I then asked if there was anything that they could do for us, and she responded with a resounding NO. I told her how disappointed I was with the service, and she just shrugged and said sorry. Not really seeming to care.

I honestly recommend you staying as far away from this hotel as possible!

Room Tip: Executive suite is larger than regular rooms which are tiny!

Hello,

A group of us rented 12 rooms a this hotel for a friends 50th birthday. I was choked to see the condition of the hotel and rooms. I got to my room and was taken a back by how filthy the carpets where, and the rest of the room was scummy, The service was terrible it seems like the union runs this place.

I would never recommend this place even to my worst enemy.

if you have to go to a wedding in the area, or will spend all day exploring the mountains or lakes, it is perfect for the price you pay as this is a very expensive area both in summer and winter. the staff is bilingual, and we found them to be helpful in both languages in spite of the large amount of customers arriving at the same time. The rooms are clean but not fancy nor very modern and it is not the place for a romantic week-end when you plan to stay all the time in your room but as a hotel with a beach in summer, a large patio for drinks, and close to the ski slopes in winter, it is worth the price.

Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere. My wife and I booked one night at Le Chanteclerc and were terribly disappointed. The hotel needs a lot of TLC. Rooms are really basic and in dire need of renovations. Phone, fridge and A/C didn't work when we checked in. Musty smell in the room. The bathroom was the worst (tiles missing on the wall and counter). There was an empty bottle of wine and Cherrios cereals under our bed. WOW!!! Definitely not a 4-Star hotel.

Everything started at our arrival, the staff at the reception was paying no attention ( even we were the only clients at that time),they chatted about their personal life making us wait at least 30 minutes
They give us a standard room even our reservation was for deluxe room ,and when I wanted to cancel the reservation they lied telling is not possible( "you can but no refunds only credits") . On their site is clearly mentioned free cancelation until 4 o' clock same day!!!but I had internet after I checked in.
The hotel is a 4 star but in reality is worst than a lot 2 star hotels in USA.( very dated, everything out of order....)
The only good thing in this hotel was that we had to stay only one night!

Room Tip: The rooms upstairs reception are very noisy( there is a bar too)

We took suite room for 3 nights....they say its 5 star hotel...i give 2 star as a motel.
no TV room in bed room.......fire place at the corner where you can not see.
bed is not comfortable...we can hear noises.
for the price we paid ...never ever again.
The lady who cleaned the room.....i think she did the cleaning is 2 min....

Room Tip: not recommended for the price. be careful with the coupon deal....many things are not included.
