The emphasis of this bed and breakfast is on the breakfasts! Guests can expect four courses of various fruit, cheeese and egg dishes, polished off with profiteroles and home made chocolates! My advice is to pace yourself!

Au Coq du Bonheur is a very well run and welcoming B&B; it is centrally located so it is easy to walk into Magog for dinner. The rooms are snug and have everything you could need and the area is quiet. We stayed in winter but I understand that there is a small pool in summer when breakfast is served outside.

Room Tip: Coquine is a slightly smaller (still double) room, so opt for Le Coq Dort or the third room (I forget the name) if you want a bit more space.

Au Coq de Bonheur is truly a little gem of a place. I would not hesitate to recommend it or return. It could easily be a 5-star if the rooms were more spacious, but what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in comfort, quaintness and French-Canadian charm. I highly recommend it to any tourist who would like an authentic experience of the culture. Most of the home decor, from the furniture in every room, to the seasonal flower arrangements, to the paintings on wall are hand-crafted by the hosts. As well, anyone coming from a nearby city just looking for a weekend escape (as was our case), will find it to be a perfect place to relax, as it is just the right size. And very importantly, it is certainly a place to indulge your appetite - the breakfasts are absolutely delightful, even the highlight I would say, using local and homemade produce. The hosts, Roger and Thérèse, are a very obliging and talented duo. I have stayed at other places in the area, including the only two 5-star B+Bs, and I can confidently say that you would be hard-pressed to find a better bang for your buck elsewhere.

That all being said, some things to consider:
* If a spacious room is important to you, choose their biggest room (cant remember the name), as the others are on the moderate to small side.
*If you do not speak French, be prepared to put forth some effort to make yourself understood, as the hosts speak limited English, but they do their best to accomodate.
*Beware of the breakfasts. They are very filling and invovle a few courses. If you are touring the area, get up early and afford yourself more time than usual to eat. If you are not on a tight schedule, I recommmend getting up on the later side and turning the breakfast into a superb brunch.
*If you do not have an adventurous palette, and are a bacon + eggs type of person, notify the staff beforehand.

Hope this helps!

Un grand merci Roger et Thérèse. Nous avons beaucoup appréciez notre séjour. Nous retourions sans faute!

We stayed here twice already and each time the hosts have been amazing. The 4 course breakfast is also out of this world! Everything made from scratch. Highly recommended!
Roger and therese are the lovely owners and you can tell they pay ample attention to details.

This B&B is cozy and charming, from the incredible warmth of Therese the owner to the most clean and well equipped bedroom and bathroom, you won't be disappointed.
We stayed for one night at the ultimate stop of our trip to Quebec, the place was nicely decorated and welcoming, the owner very friendly and great cook.
She prepared us a very festive brunch with fresh products, a succession of creative flavors and colors which were matching the beautiful art deco of the house.
Great experience!!

Room Tip: the coquine room was looking at the pool in the garden and was very quiet.
