As a seasoned traveler, I have learned that most hotel reviews tend to be overly critical and not a good reflection of the lodging. People are picky. However, in the case of this Comfort Inn, the exact opposite is true. From the glowing reports I expected a well appointed Comfort Inn and instead found myself in a run down motel badly in need of renovations; which apparently they will do in the spring when they convert it to a Travel Lodge. The nice staff and an effort at cleanliness are the only things that save this location. My room was very dated with furniture that had the much of the varnish worn off, carpets are heavily stained, the data port did not function and the thermostat for the heat was wonky; leaving me at times sweating and at times freezing. While the room was clean in general the inside of the bathroom door was stained with old coffee splatter. The hotel also advertises a "Deluxe" Continental Breakfast, but unless the cold boiled eggs qualify as deluxe..... Tonight I am at a different Comfort Inn down the road and the difference is like night and day.

I was unsure about staying here at first but when we got there to check in everything was updated and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Our rooms were renovated and clean. We had supper at the Lobster Trap and everything was spectacular. My mom still talked about her Chicken Parmesan for days after. I had the Chicken Skillet and would highly recommend. The breakfast buffet was ok, but very little selection.

There are many similar hotel motels in Gananoque. We have stayed at this one many times. The rooms are very clean and the price is right. The girl at the desk was very nice and answered every one of our many questions. You can pay more at many of the others but this one has everything we needed and we will return next time.

Room Tip: room by pool has a patio

This was a super expensive hotel that is in dire need of upgrading. At $235.00 a night the comforts of this hotel don't come close. The bed, pillows and complimentary breakfast leave a lot to be desired. The "Ultra" continental breakfast was hard boiled eggs, toast, bagels, cereal. No yogurt, fruit, etc included in the breakfast. The pipes from adjacent rooms bang so hard through the night that sleep was an option. Would not ever recommend staying in this hotel.

Room Tip: Go to a different hotel

My husband Dennis and I (Josie) went on a bike trip in Southern Ontario that lasted two days. We were exhausted and needed a place to stay in Gananoque, which by the way was a beautiful town. We stayed in the comfort Inn which we found to be very clean, comfortable and so close to the casino. There is also an outdoor pool which was so relaxing. We want to thank everyone for making it a pleasant stay. It was also at an affordable great rate!!!

We also had an opportunity to meet the owner of the establishment. FANTASTIC person!!! Thanks for the help.

I would like to say that our visit here was pleasant. The staff was very nice and helpful. When asked for their opinions on restaurants and sights to see they were more then helpful and truthful!
My daughter enjoyed the pool very much, which was very clean and warm! The only slight disappointment was the continental breakfast, the selection of food was fairly limited compared to other comfort inns and there was no where to sit to eat, there were signs however which stated that they were in the midst of fixing this problem.
