Great location on the St Lawrence. Convivial hosts. Great for cyclists - a chance to get off the busy Highway 2 portion of the Lakefront Trail. You can take the ferry on at one end and take the ferry off at the other end of the Island. We stayed in the cottage. Didn't enjoy the smell and sound of the compostable toilet but every thing else was comfortable.
No food available on the Island. So for cyclists it is a 20 km round-trip to Gananoque for dinner.
All in all, a little over-priced compared to the other accommodations we used along the Waterfront Trail. But you gotta love those yellow Muskoka chairs on the deck.

Spectacular location and warm Howe Island hospitality. Lots of thoughtful amenities and a real cottage feel to the accommodation. We were there for just one evening but it gave the rewards of a much longer vacation. Wendy and Jeff

Room Tip: Separate cottage with a screened in porch was a real treat.

Although the winery will not be there for much longer, Dave and Wendy go out of their way in every way to be helpful and provide everything possible for you to have an amazing stay! Peace, tranquility, on the water, a welcome glass of wine and a driving cd! On top of everything else. Very lucky to have found this on trip advisor. Don't miss out!!!

My husband and I spent two nights on Howe Island. I was looking for a nice place to spend a weekend in the Thousand Islands area and this place had so many positive reviews that I’ve decided to try it out. It exceeded our expectations. The place is very nice and quiet, the nature is beautiful, the hosts are very pleasant, the breakfasts are delicious and the entire atmosphere is very relaxing. We enjoyed our stay and we would recommend it to anyone who looks for a quiet retreat. Thank you David and Wendy!

You, too, may be able to find yourself staying in the #1 room in the #1 B&B in the 1000 Islands, as I unexpectedly did in June of 2013. A beautiful view of the St. Lawrence from the grounds, complete with loons and a frolicking mink at the river's edge. Here's all else you need to know: a beautiful room with a great bed in a very "green" establishment (e.g., a self-composting toilet), Dave's Happy Hour samples of vintage from the vineyard on the premises, and Wendy's fantastic breakfast! It's no wonder that the Howe Island B&B is attracting guests from Europe. This American guest certainly plans to return. Don't forget your bicycle!

Room Tip: The cottage next to the main house is a little piece of heaven!

If we could rate higher than excellent, we would! My husband and I were married here in August 2013. If you are considering this venue, look no further! You will not be disappointed!
Our wedding happened on the grounds of the Howe Island B&B and Winery. We decided to have a later ceremony 4pm start that continued into our reception (until midnight). Everything was prefect! There is not one single thing I would change about the event. Since everything was happening outside, and on privately owned property we had to find rental companies for just about everything, but it was so worth all the work! We rented tables, tents, chairs, linens, dishes, toilets, buses to transport guests to and from the Island, etc. (My dad built a bar and dance floor to save us some money). While it was a lot of work, all of those connections are made now (and you wouldn't have to guess pricing for delivery fees or initial setup fees, etc). We had about 150 guests (including a wedding party of 18), a DJ, 2 musicians play during our ceremony, bus transportation for all guests (to and from the Island), etc. The night before the wedding we had our rehearsal on the island with the pastor and wedding party. David and Wendy are such wonderful hosts! They were there supporting us, offering their help and suggestions (when decisions just couldn't be made anymore by me lol), The bridal party slept over at the B&B the night before the wedding, hairstylists and makeup artists arrived early and Wendy provided breakfast and treats for all the girls while they got ready. My sister instructed a yoga class to try to calm us all donw on the deck overlooking the st lawerance river (beautiful!!). The ceremony went off without a hitch! everything was perfect! Guests were awed by the venue and beautiful views. After the ceremony we left for pictures around the Island, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour with appetizers and then the reception started. My cute little sister wrote a song and sang it during the speeches and there wasn't a dry eye on the Island! I swear my husband and I could have rose the waster line 6 inches that day. We we mesmerized all day by the beauty of the property and the way everything worked out so wonderfully.
I still cannot believe it all really happened. It seems like a dream, even looking back at the pictures I cannot put it into words. David and Wendy are incredibly friendly people, we feel like part of their family now. We look forward to visiting them on a yearly basis for the rest of our lives :)
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

We spent a lovey weekend at the Howe Island B&B and were very impressed with the overall quality of our time spent there. From Wendy''s fabulous breakfasts to David's happy banter we were very happy to stay at their lovely cottage beside the main B&B. This was our first visit but it won't be our last. Thanks again for making us so welcome.
