“Cottage-y feel... clean”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

I would stay again. It was old, and not as snazzy as a modern hotel... but the bathroom was large, renovated, sparkling clean. The beds were new and comfortable. Large flat screen tv had lots of channels.

This hotel is pet friendly. We were travelling with our little dog and the rooms that face out onto the outdoor pool are wonderful for dogs! There is plenty of lawn space to walk fido. Each room has two chairs on a little 'porch' where you can sit, look out onto the treed yard and the pool. It's very relaxing and a nice option for when you have a dog.

Sure, it's not a jazzy, modern hotel... but it is clean, quiet, and for a dog owner we really enjoyed our stay here. We would stay again.

Room Tip: If you have a dog, ask for a room facing out to the outdoor pool.

I have to say that the photos on the web look way much better than the hotel itself so I was a little bit disappointed when we arrived. But we finally had a pleasant stay as the room was clean, the receptionist very nice and the breakfast more than acceptable. The pool was not done yet but we still had the opportunity to swim in there and it was very nice. The hotel is very close to the cruises and a nice little beach for children.

There are 2 swimming pools (one exterior, one interior0. Located in a small village with an excellent summer theatre venue (Thousand Islands Playhouse). A good spot for families to visit. There is also a tennis court

It was late when we pulled off the road and thinking that Best Westerns are usually a good place was our first mistake. Once we checked in and brought our things up to the room is where it started going down hill in a hurry but we didn't find this out until after we turned on the AC and went out for a late night bite to eat. Once arriving back to our room we found that the room was still at 80 degrees and that the AC all though it was on and running nothing was taking place. After calling the front desk and having the owner come up and tell us "look it is running you just have to wait awhile" and then telling him that we have been out for a hour and a half he said wait longger. Calling around we found out that the Holiday Inn Express right next door was sold out we weere stuck. So off to bed we went only to find out that the sheets didn't fit the bed and that there were stains on them and upon a sleepless night and wanting to take a shower in the morning also found out that water would only come out in a trickle. If you want a nice night stay and a comfortable room skip this place and go to the Holiday Inn Express right nextt door.

Please allow me an opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Arlene and I am the
Director of the Front Office at the Best Western Country Squire. My GM has advised me of the
service you received during your stay with us: first and foremost I want to sincerely apologize for this. We strive to service our guest and especially our loyal Best Western Members such
as yourself and on this occasion we did not exceed your basic expectations. Upon further
reseraching your comments, the GM did explain that a free upgrade was offered to you.
In regards to the linens in the room, our sheets are sent out and professionally cleaned. We
never had complaints regarding the shower in your room or any room on our property, but
we do appreciate that you have made us aware of this and the Maintenace Dept. has been
sent to the room to investigate. Yes, our AC units are older, and we are in the process of
replacing every unit on this property in the upcoming months. I would like to extend to
you and your family an invitation to stay with us in the future and we will make sure that
your stay is VIP. I look forward in hearing from you and having the opporuntiy to have you
back as a guest of ours.

It was a very nice hotel.. The staff were exceptional and offered suggestions on places to see and eat. The only this we found is that the hotel could use a little updating. It was a little behind in that aspect. Other than that, it was great. Location and price were good.

Let me start by saying that this is a small town. Most of the guests staying at hotels in this town are just looking for a place to lay their heads at night. If you are expecting any more, book into one of the non-chain boutique hotels. This hotel was priced rather high for a Friday night stay and for what we got, but all the hotels in the area are comparable. My husband and I arrived at 2:30 pm and we were told that are room was ready. Lobby smells wonderful! A small spa is located off the lobby so all the lovely aromas waft in. We were staying on the 2nd floor, almost right above the front desk. Our room was facing the pond. There was no elevator to this 2nd level, just some small steps, about 15 or so. If you have mobility issues, it would be wise to indicate this on your request so you don't get one of the 3 rooms that were up there. The rooms are very tired. Balcony was nice to have, but was very dirty and full of spider webs and dead bugs. Shower had great pressure. Location was very good - right between the water and the casino, so we didn't have far to go for anything. Hotel was very quiet and we didn't hear a peep from anyone else. We went down for the free breakfast buffet in the morning. Unfortunately, the cook had quit that morning, so all the hot food was gone. The staff person there appologized and said there was more hot food coming, but it would be 30 mins or so. But the other items available were great (muffins, waffles, juices etc).

All in all, a restful stay in an older just-off-the-highway hotel.
