“Excellent Pizza, wine and patio!”
Reviewed 14 October 2013 via mobile

We enjoyed our wood pizza oven pizza over the long Thanksgiving weekend! The kids pizzas were great and our steak, grilled onion and fig sauce was very flavourful. We also had a shrimp and pesto and the vegetarian. Washed it down with a nice red and a local lager. It was a warm sunny afternoon so we sat on the patio with a view of the river. Worth a stop!

“Great Location - Great Food”
Reviewed 29 September 2013

We noticed this great little order counter-style cafe with an outdoor patio, just a block from the Island View Inn, where we were staying. The whimsically decorated outdoor patio was great to admire with its interesting selection of fun items. The wild flower gardens was also a spectacular site. While we were there a worker was putting the finishing touches to an outdoor wood pizza oven, recently installed, I believe. Although on a gluten-free diet, I was able to order a great meal that I could enjoy. It was a beautiful sunny day and being outdoors on their patio was wonderful. The owner / chef was very friendly and welcoming.

“Loved it!”
Reviewed 5 September 2013 via mobile

My family and I drive from Kingston to Gananoque to take the tour of the Thousand Islands on the Labour Day long weekend. After the tour, we saw the Purple House Cafe next to the parking lot. It has a cute patio with a garden and inside the house they have an eclectic but cute arrangement of 1950s styled chrome tables and colouring and story books for children next to a lovely bay window. The bathrooms were small but very clean and pretty. We ordered the Purple House Panini and it was fantastic! A must-try!

“a lovely lunch in gananoque”
Reviewed 4 September 2013

we took a country drive from kingston to gananoque on the labour day long weekend, and after walking around downtown in the heat, settled on 'the purple house' for a light lunch. they have lovely looking decor inside, but we decided to sit on their nice shady patio, which is surrounded by a great garden. we also watched them building some kind of clay oven outside -- pizzas in the future perhaps?
the menu is quite simple: there is a range of paninis, many different sweets, and a good range of alchoholic and non alcoholic drinks. i stuck with a pop while my g/f got a waupoos cider, which she deemed excellent, especially in the heat. our paninis were great -- i got a chicken one while my g/f got a veggie one. would definitely try them again, though we might wait until the pizza oven is going so that we could try some new menu items. a very nice find.
