Yesterday, my wife and I spent a lovely afternoon aboard Chuckles, touring the 1000 Islands as if it were our own boat! There were only 4 of us on a small cozy boat that seats a maximum of 12! It was a beautiful sunny day, perfect day to be on a boat on the water! We sat outside on the front deck for most of the journey through many islands – Captain Lance was able to come close to many islands and we saw the island life up close, and he had lots of commentary to add to the beautiful changing scenery! We stopped at a Parks Canada island, Endymion – and had a pleasant walk on the island and then returned to Chuckles for a tea/coffee/water and cookie refreshments … then went back through the islands to the 1000 Island Playhouse. We followed that with a dinner on the patio of the Gananoque Inn, and topped off the evening with a great play at the 1000 Islands Playhouse, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee – wonderful day and evening!
Captain Lance was a gracious and knowledgeable host about the islands, boating, navigating – and his boat is a gem of meticulous and loving care – shiny wood and brass, even nautical curtains tied with knots! We’ve done all possible boat tours of the 1000 islands and this was the best!
The tour lasted 3.5 hours and the morning tour that we plan on taking next year has a different route...and he even has a shorter evening sunset tour! See his website at http://www.chucklesdiscoverytours.com/index.html and be sure to click on 'tours' to view the maps of all 3 tours!
