“friendly, beautiful, slightly funky”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2010

The welcome was extremely friendly, and staff bent over backwards to please. We didn't care for the site we were assigned, and were given several options to choose from. We took a platform site, on the hill and next to the cliff, which was great.

Lucy also tipped us off to the local poissonerie, where we got some beautiful 2-lb lobsters, and the campground has a mobile propane burner and lobster pot to cook them up in. One of the kayak instructors even offered to go into the water to fill the pot for us (it had been raining, and the water close to shore was very silty).

Wifi access is spotty in cloudy weather (satellite uplink), and there's no signal at the campsites on the edge of the campground.

This is a small campground located directly on the Gulf of St. Lawrence halfway between Perce (Perce Rock and Boniventure Island) and Gaspe (Forillon National Park). Their beach, just a stones throw from any site, is full of agates and beautiful jasper which fall from the cliffs and gets washed up on the shore and they are free for the taking! Although there is no "rec hall", there is a nice building that houses pay washer and dryer, FREE showers (with shampoo and bath gel provided), a microwave and can opener, coffee in the mornings, and a television. The main office offers souveniers, camping supplies, ice, wood, etc. Besides the small beach, there is a nice hiking trail and a great view of the Indian Head. Although there is no restaurant, a very short walk (less than a minute) to the highway viewing area of the Indian Head, you will find a little food stand for hot dogs, poutine, etc. in case you just don't feel like cooking. The prices are very reasonable. But most of all, they have wireless internet access! I found it pretty reliable, except in the middle of a bad thunderstorm. The wireless hookup still worked, but their satellite internet hookup didn't because of the weather. Their office staff is bi-lingual and I found a 50/50 mix of English to French speakers camping there. I would stay here again!

  • Liked — Excellent location!
  • Disliked — No rec hall to get out of the rain.
