Back in July, I reserved 2 rooms at the Panorama for 2 days in September. I had heard that this region can be quite busy at this time of year (especially if the weather is good) and it was recommended that I make reservations in advance. I got a confirmation e-mail back with the room numbers and instructions to call if we were to arrive after 6:00 p.m. Well, we got there at 5:00 and were very upset to find out that a travel bus had arrived and that our rooms had been given away ! They made arrangements for us to stay at another hotel down the street that 'sold out' a few minutes after we got there. I wonder what would have happened if we had been a few minutes later as all the rooms in town were pretty much all booked for the night. When I travel, I spend a lot of time researching the region and accomodations so that I can enjoy my trip and not stress about finding a place to stay when I get there. This behavior shows a lack of respect and consideration for my time and effort.

We decided to give this place a try based on previous reviews. The motel is located at the very edge of the village on top of a hill. You could walk to town to save on parking, but I would say it's a good 20 minute walk. Some rooms have a view of the Roché Percé. Do note that not not all the rooms have air conditioning. The rooms in the building of the reception does NOT have AC. We had a room directly over the reception area and all we had was a ceiling fan. Keep that in mind when reserving at the hotel. We were lucky as we had a relatively cool night so we left the balcony patio door open a couple of hours and it was nice and cool in the room. If you worry about safety of leaving the door open through the night, the balcony isn't that far from the ground, so someone could climb up if they wanted to. However, we found the city of Percé quite safe.

There is free internet included with the room. You can ask reception for the encryption key. The staff was friendly and helpful. You can also purchase ferry tickets to L'Ile Bonaventure at the discount (20$ as opposed to 25$ at the dock) from the front desk. Note that the reception is NOT opened 24/7. We wanted to check out early (7am) and the front desk was closed. Luckily the owner of the Motel was in the little restaurant (where breakfast is served should you have a package that includes breakfast), so we left the keys with her.

All in all, it was a descent place to stay. The room was clean and had the bare essentials needed to get some rest and get back on the road the next day. If you plan on staying more than a night, I would suggest you look somewhere else for a little more luxury. If you look for the bare minimum, this place definitely has it.

We stayed at the Motel Panorama for 2 nights (30 & 31 Jul 09) - we booked online a week earlier. We were 3 of us (wife and a 7 years old child) who stayed at that motel. When we opened the door of our room (room 16), we were surprised to see such a tiny room - I mean very small. There were 2 double beds and a table, however, it was cramped, ridiculous choice for 3 people with baggage. We found out later that they had many larger rooms available and the motel was not full that night. Something woke us up at approx 10:30 pm - at first we thought there was a storm outside, however, the noise that woke us up was water pouring down from the ceiling in the washroom. It lasted approx 20 mins - we assumed that someone took a shower the room above us. The next day, we asked to move to another room explaining the water fall in the washroom. In the meantime, we were going to call the reception but of course, there are no phones in the rooms - what do you expect for $130 a night?. We decided to wait until morning to complaint. They gave us the next room (room 17), a much larger room. Of course we were happy but disappointed that they did not gave us a room that size at the first place.

They placed air conditioning units in the window over a thick set of curtain - if you want to feel the air conditioning, you have to open the curtain. If you want more privacy, you close the curtain but you don't feel the air flow.

They had a swimming pool but they had problems with the heater, water was as cold as the ocean. We did not see anyone swimming.

On the positive side, The motel is well located just outside the town, we could see the Rocher Perce from our location. It is a decent motel but well overpriced (not worth the $130 per night (taxes incl). We paid that amount when we stayed in Toronto this past June. I would recommend to stay at this motel if they were charging half that price.

We stayed here with extended family for 2 nights - what a great little place!
It is a new motel so rooms are nice and very clean. All rooms have a balcony or patio and are a good size - we were lucky enough to get room 15 - WOW! Huge room with windows on 3 sides and an amazing view of the rock. Put in an advance request for this one - 2 Queen beds, table and chairs and a couch. We were there in July and only paid 67.00 per night for this room - amazing! Staff was helpful and friendly - you can buy tickets for the boat excursions and whale watching tours at the front desk. They have a great little breakfast room where you can buy full breakfasts from 7 -10 am. It is about a 3 min drive into the main area of town. It also has an outdoor pool.
For dinner, we found a great restaurant called the Hommard Rouge - it is in a large red barn right on the water in the centre of town. Friendly service and great food!
