“Refreshing and Uplifting”
Reviewed 2 January 2014

Once again for our fourth Christmas in a row we stayed up at the Trickle Creek Lodge in Kimberley. The staff know us now and they are all very friendly and helpful. We stay in a King size suite which has absolutely everything that we need and its all comfy and clean and the pots and pans are good, full stove and fridge...just simply a great suite! We usually go into town for a walk about each morning around the platz, which is just a five minute drive away down the hill. Since we have been coming to Kimberley the weather has always been on our side and the temperature just below zero which is perfect for skiing. After skiing (during Christmas anyway) there is usually a live band on over at the Stemwinder from 3 to 6 pm - ish. We had met many many different people over there from all walks of life. Kimberley is such a very friendly feel at home kind of place. Kids are allowed almost everywhere, even in the bar until 8pm, which by then most people have gone to their rooms anyway to rest up after a long day of lots of fresh air. Montannas fills up in the Trickle Creek Lodge itself around supper time. The only complaint we have is that small kids under a certain age, (say 6 or 10?, not ones that are still in diapers anyway), should not be allowed in the outdoor hot tubs.

Room Tip: We like the rooms facing the Hot Tub but they are a little dark. Facing the other way, the front off...

My Family and I visited this hotel over the Christmas Holidays. When we checked into the hotel the room was not really ready for us, yet it was 4:30pm.
Here is just a bit of what our room was like:
The room we reserved did have 2 bed rooms and a pull out couch so really could sleep 4 adults and 2 kids, but only had enough towels for 2 people.
The towel rack in one of the bathrooms had fallen off the wall and was laying just on the counter.
Tube TV's...really, I paid $372.00 A NIGHT and your hotel can not afford flat screens.
Under the bed was not clean, there was paper, dust and more dust, you could actually see the line of dust under the bed.
Oh and if you want sheets for the hide a bed call in advance because that does not come ready to sleep in. We experianced that in July when we stayed there. We had to ask security to get us sheets in July because the front desk closed around 9pm. So it is a kind of fend for your self kinda place after 9pm...
And customer service, not at it's best we found the front desk staff not overly friendly.
So in all reality, I paid 372.00 PLUS TAX PER NIGHT for location.I would have thought for that amount, the room would be at least clean, towels, no dust under the bed, and better customer service. I do work in a hotel myself and I do have expectations that I would like to be met, you want people to return. For being one of the only better hotels in Kimberley you would think they would want to do a good job in all areas inorder for people to return year after year and pay that kind of money.
The hotel is beautiful, the location could not be better, but not for the money I paid!!!

Conveniently located on the ski hill, this is a great venue especially if you want to make a wardrobe change (as happens skiing) or prefer making your own lunch. We stayed in a one bedroom unit facing hill and found it tidy and clean. As the lodge is now competing with a wider range of accommodation, it's often possible to get a good deal if you're patient.

Spending 4days of golfing 3 great courses and spending evening with friends or mostly just enjoying the view from the balcony or using the swim area and using the barbque . The staff was extremely helpful for outside assistance in golf time and restaurants. We will be back.

Room Tip: Try for a room overlooking down town and the valley.

I spent the evenings of August 10 and 11, 2013 at Trickle Creek Lodge in a one-bedroom unit facing the ski hill. I actually booked a "Golf and Stay" package that gave me two night's hotel at the Trickle Creek Lodge, plus one round of golf at each of Trickle Creek Golf Course (Kimberly, BC) and Wildstone Golf Course (Cranbrook, BC). I booked via telephone directly with Trickle Creek Lodge, and the process was straightforward and simple.

The Trickle Creek Lodge is located in "The Villiage" just outside of the City of Kimberly, BC, at the base of the ski hill. It is a short 4 minute car ride to the Trickle Creek Golf Course and a 20 to 25 minute drive to the Wildstone Golf Course in Cranbrook, BC. Trickle Creek Lodge is ideally located to act as a base of operations for a golf holiday in the Eastern Kootenay's, as there are a dozen "Championship" golf courses within a 45 minute drive.

The property is nice, but it is in need of a refreshing make-over. The room I stayed in, a one bedroom unit facing the ski hill, had a very worn carpet that was wrinkled and coming off the floor. Plus paint in the bedroom and in the bathroom has chipped and/or missing off of the walls, while the tile work was grungy and dated. The King size bed was very firm but comfortable, the pillows and linens adequate, but large fluffy bath towels were nowhere to be found. Overall, my impression was that Trickle Creek Lodge was probably really nice 10 year's ago, but that without a makeover soon, it could be in real trouble.

Overall, on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is terrible and 10 is excellent, I rate Trickle Creek Lodge as a 7. Once the carpets are replaced, the walls repainted, and the rooms given an update, I am sure that Trickle Creek Lodge will meet or exceed most travellers' expectation of a "high end" vacation property. It already has a great location. Now they just need to get the physical building back up to a "high end" level.

Only worth it if you can book under a promo rate. Check-in was quick and underground parking is free during the summer. Room was a average-sized studio with small kitchenette, pull out couch and queen bed. However, the fan / air-conditioning unit was extraordinarily noisy and the front desk was more than happy to re-locate us to a slightly more spacious one-bedroom suite. The air conditioning unit was quieter only to be offset by a really loud bathroom fan but it was tolerable. Overall, we had a comfortable stay. The premises are clean but the rooms and hallways are looking very tired and worn. The staff were pleasant. Not much happening at the lodge, no restaurant but there is a small cafe for baked goodies and coffee. Plenty of hiking and biking in the surrounding area, which is very quiet during the summer.

Only a 5min drive down to the Platzl, a cute and somewhat kitschy Bavarian styled village. We had dinner at the Mozart House Inn based on some positive reviews and I was craving schnitzel. Overall, dinner was average (but at resort prices); however, the waitress was lovely.

We stayed just one night in the lodge, really enjoyed the room. Lots of amenities, could easily stay longer if a person needed too. It was a one bedroom with kitchen. Enjoyed the view and the outdoor spa after golfing. Staff were nice, room was clean. nice and quiet, at least at this time of year. Breakfast nook was ok, nothing to write home about. Would go back for a long weekend golf trip.
