We were staying in Saint Andrews at a different Inn just up the road from the Shiretown Pub and the Kennedy Inn - and we decided to come in for a quick bite. Knowing it is off season in a small town we were not surprised to see that the pub was empty - however we were greeted with a welcoming smile and given our choice of tables.

Our Hostess/server Cindy was wonderful. A huge smile with suggestions and a timely manner - we had a couple of pints of the local beer and enjoyed a fantastic meal - the salmon was done to perfection with a wonderful avocado salsa. We were not very hungry after the amazing stuffed potato skins - so when we asked to share the salmon dish they went out of their way to give us our own separate portions of the order. The whole experience was simply delightful.

The Inn and pub are old and warm and comforting - so much history. And all was decorated for Christmas!

So if you are looking for a comfortable, understated and welcoming pub to have a nice meal, some cold beer, and great service this is the place to come. It was lovely - thank you!

I've eaten here twice for lunch and have been very happy both times. They make their own tartar sauce that is delicious. They really try to make you feel at home. This restaurant deserves better reviews than it's got. Eat on the porch it's great

I had come in here with my partner for lunch one day and after standing at the door felt like we weren't given much direction on where to go. The dining room is on the left as you first walk in, but if you venture down the hall a little the pub area is on the right, past the main desk.

Had we of been given any direction, we would have sat in the pub section, but felt as if the dining room was our only option. Having some prior knowledge or perhaps been given a choice by our server would have really been nice.

That aside, the food was decent, and the price was really quite fair but the service was some of the slowest I've ever seen. Sitting in the dining room, a solid 10 minutes had gone by before any of the 3-4 servers entered the room.

I'm not one to complain, but I did over hear another couple complain about their food from the table beside us. The server was really quite sorry and seemed really sincere, offering them anything she could which was really quite nice.

While our server was very sweet, it took FOREVER to get our food. Our server did offer to get us prompt desserts free of charge, and when we declined, she gave us a 10% discount. The shrimp in my husband's meal was overcooked, but aside from that, the food, when we got it, was good. Also, the smell of cigarette smoke was present throughout most of our time there (we were seated inside and not in the pub area), which was, in addition to the delay in receipt of our food, very unpleasant. We are generally quite accepting of some delay, but this simply went too far.

Stopped in here for lunch yesterday while visiting the wonderful town of Saint Andrews. A charming location but the service was abhorrent, we had to hunt down our waiter to order another drink as our food had still not arrived (about 35 minutes after ordering which seems a bit much for lunch) but we had already finished our drinks. We ordered 2 grilled chicken sandwiches with ceasar salad. The sandwiches were good but salad was warm and inedible. Also ordered the lobster roll which was quite likely the best we had ever had and according to our waiter the reason for the delay. I had the seafood chowder which was unbelievably good and the corned beef on rye which also fantastic, with pickles, homemade sauerkraut, cheese and cooked similar to a reuben . The food almost makes the wait worthwhile
