“A comfortable stay, even for only one night.”
Reviewed 9 September 2013

Traveling from Maine, we lost an hour in the time zone change, but even our brief stay was enjoyable. We arrived early evening--hungry--and were welcomed and given dinner suggestions for several Bayfront restaurants within easy walking distance.

The room was comfortable, quiet and well appointed. Breakfast included juice, coffee (or tea), fruit, muffins, stuffed French toast and sausage--plenty to get us ready for the road again.

From the initial phone call to make our reservation, to Joe passing me my muffin wrapped in a brown paper bag as I left, our experience at the Montague Rose was top notch. Our room was comfortable, neat and clean. The bed was cozy and there was a nice fan and the big windows that opened to allow for a nice breeze. Two beautiful armchairs with wine glasses were supplied. Joe made some great suggestions for supper.
The breakfast in the morning was amazing...lots of coffee, fresh fruit cup, blueberry muffins, Eggs Benedict, home fries, OJ. One of the best I've had in years.
The location allows for an easy walk to St Andrews Main St....great boutique shopping, nice bars and restaurants. Everything you need.
Check this B&B out...you won't be disappointed.

We stayed at this B&B based on the great reviews. It did not meet our expectations. Standards vary and we had just come from Nova Scotia which had excellent B&Bs. Perhaps the standards are lower in St. Andrew's. We stayed in the Jardin room - the ceiling was a dropped ceiling -one of the panels was stained-the room was overstuffed with furniture and had one small fan. Luckily it was a cool night. The bathroom window did not open and there was no fan. The upper hall sitting room was pleasant. Breakfast was fine. Joe was pleasant but understated. Next time we'll try a different B&B.

Besides the over-the-top breakfast and comfortable beds, what I like about Montague Rose is the atmosphere. There are books and DVDs to borrow, and the door is unlocked most of the day for easy coming and going. I consider this B&B to be very good value for the price, and charming to boot. The breakfast will keep you going until at least 2:00 pm!

Room Tip: One room has a bathroom which is private but not en suite.

Sweetest people. All was perfect. Superb breakfast around a table of other happy, friendly guests. Joe's Eggs Benny was top notch and he kindly wrapped up Roseanne's Blueberry Muffins for our lunch on the road.. equally fabulous! When St. Andrews calls us back again, we'll come knocking!

A lovely B&B with the best location possible in the charming town of St. Andrews. We were so pleased we had decided to drive the extra half hour from the border to this wonderful little seaside town. Reminded us of Bar Harbor, Maine without the crowds of tourists. From this B&B we walked a few short blocks down to the main street of town and selected a restaurant at the waterside and enjoyed a lovely dinner overlooking the bay. Walked the two or three short blocks back to the inn and enjoyed a good night's sleep on luxury linens followed in the AM by a stunningly wonderful breakfast of Eggs Benedict. A superb B&B run very professionally but with that extra touch of warmth that is why we prefer B&B's to the cool demeanor of the standard roadside hotel.

Joe and Rose-anne provide for an unforgettable trip away in this beautiful, historic east coast town!! We can easily say that on day 6 we were nowhere near ready to go home. The Montague Rose is a charming, cozy, and inviting bed and breakfast that is sure to make you feel at home. You are welcomed with smiles from Joe and Rose-anne and are left wanting for nothing while staying in the elegant rooms. We stayed in the Guildford Room which provided for both an amazing night's sleep and an intimate setting for relaxing and enjoying a glass of wine. Breakfast was to die for and every morning we were offered coffee, tea, and juices, fruit (a variety of 7 fresh fruits), warm fresh-out-of-the oven muffins or scones, and a hot breakfast plate to finish! (Which Joe likes to top with an icing sugar maple leaf!) St. Andrews is a historic, quaint east cost town with friendly waves and smiles welcoming you on the street and fresh sea breezes off the Bay of Fundy. Whether its sunsets on the pier, fresh seafood in the local pubs, local whale watching, or a warm welcoming hello from Joe and Rose-anne, it surely leaves no room for questioning-- The Montague Rose in St. Andrews is the next vacation spot for you!
