From the staff's care and courtesy to the fabulous food and comfy rooms, our expectations were far exceeded at the Europa. The German owners obviously are professionals and continue to invest and upgrade their property. We ate there 4 times and every meal was among the best we've eaten and we travel extensively worldwide. I guess you could call us 'foodies' because experiencing great wine and regional dishes is a great part of our travel pleasure. We especially loved the fresh fish, lobster bisque, local cheeses, hand made ravioli's and the lamb was sucullent. There were lots of choices and the deserts were to die for ... all homemade and gourmet. The Europa's location was perfect, just a half block from the centre of town and a block from the water. We loved meandering around town and took advantage of a whale watching package offered by the hotel. We have already booked with the Europa to come back next year. When you find a gem like this, you want to experience it again and again. Oh I almost forgot ... the art in the diningroom and new lobby was done by the owner's wife. She is incredibly talented. We bought one of her watercolors to celebrate our perfect holiday.

I booked The Europa Inn b/c it appeared on line to have a suite with king bed, separate living rm,bathroom, kitchenette and balcony as well a full bfst and dinner package included in the price.
This was confirmed when I spoke with the girl at The Europa at the time of booking. In fact I called twice to confirm this. Also at no time were we told the place was under construction.
On arrival we were told to enter our rm from the back alley. Once we found the correct door we were walking into a construction area, where work was being done on a stairs and presumably a new entrance to new rms. There were no markings to direct us and in fact there were 2 separate stairways just to make it more confusing.
Once we found our rm and entered we realized immediately that this was not the suite we had been led to believe we had booked. The room was cramped with a king sized bed, miniature tables, closet and even smaller bathroom. We tried to both walk out onto the so called balcony ( view of the alley ) but with the table and chair , 2 people could not fit. That may have been a good thing as the balcony looked very unsafe, with a rickety railing and unsure floor boards that tilted in a fashion as to make you feel you might fall off the edge. The rm. did not have the separate kitchette and l/r. as indicated twice when we phoned to book.
When we tried to find our way back to the lobby /restaurant the hallways had no signage, so for safety reasons (ie : fire escape) I was not comfortable staying there. Having to make your way through an area still under construction (ie wires, boards, tools etc) and possibly no lighting this was not a comfortable, come-stay-with-us feeling.
The receptionist was understanding and hastened to find us other local accomodation,of which we were grateful. However the special meal package was never offered to us ( as that was one of the main reasons we booked was to experience the so called great food ) not even a invitation to come back and eat.
I will add that the owners never came to address our concerns personally, although the receptionist kept leaving to talk to some one.
This was our first impression of St . Andrews and needless to say it did not leave "a good taste in our mouths" .
Fortunately we were able to also prebook exceptional accomodations ( will write this other place with a favourable review ) for the other 2 nights for our 25th anniversary, although we never did find a acceptable place to eat in the town for our special event .

Don't think we will be returning soon and I certainly would not recommend the Europa Inn as a place to stay.

Just wanted to recommend this restaurant if you are looking for an excellent dinner. The food was wonderful, and everything was made from scratch. The service and decor were also excellent. It was our best meal of our vacation. We both would highly recommend this restaurant if you are staying in St Andres, New Brunswick. Thanks to all the wonderful staff at Europa. Charming inn with full service, gourment restaurant on the first floor. Scandanavian influence in the rooms. The most beautiful small bathroom I've ever seen -- glass shower, glass counter top, glass raised sink. Bedroom was small, but gleaming white and spotless with a small balcony. Don't miss dinner in their restaurant either.

My husband and I recently completed a 2 week tour of the Maritimes. The lovely l'Europa Hotel in St. Andrew's on the Sea, New Brunswick was recommended by a friend. From the moment we arrived, we were delighted with this small (8 room) hotel.

The building is over 100 years old and has been refurbished as a very comfortable inn. From reception to accommodation to dining, the l'Europa was the highlight our our trip. Breakfast is complimentary and included eggs done to your preference, yogurt, cereals, croissant, juice, coffee, toast.

The dining room is a warm, friendly space with excellent service and a price slightly lower than other establishments in St. Andres's of a similar style - we checked out a couple. The food was sublime, prepared with European style by owner/chef Marcus Ritter. Marcus and his lovely wife, Simone, are and young couple who seemed to have hit on the right combination of old world style and modern day comfort.

Our room, although slightly small, was bright, cheery and decorated with a homey touch. We had a window overlooking the garden with windows that open for a change, bright, floral curtains and coordinating bedspread with a very comfortable bed.

We would definitely recommend l'Europa to anyone visiting the charming town of St. Andrew's.
