“Nice view - but the quaint cottage could use some improvements”
Reviewed 11 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

If you are looking for a quiet place with a great view, the beachfront cottage is the place to go. We rented one of the cabins (turns out it is attached to the other). It is difficult to see all of the view when sitting on the cabin patio as there is a huge built in planter. Plants are nice, but they block the view. The pricing for the cabin was expensive. For the price, even though the cabins were small (very quaint), I would expect better quality linen and towels. The dishes and electrical appliances provided could be upgraded. The kettle is electric so there is a danger that water could boil dry. A fire extinguisher should be provided in the small kitchen area. The bathroom is very small, big enough for 1 person (don't try and turn around !). Management was very friendly and welcoming.

Thank you for your helpful comments. Please note that all our rooms have a fire extinguisher. The one in the room you stayed in is, ironically enough, located in the cupboard right next to the kettle. It was our pleasure to welcome you at Shady Shores. Please come back soon.

“RENTAL NOT WHAT WE EXPECTED AND NOT EVEN IN QUALICUM BEACH”

We love Qualicum Beach and this is what attracted us to the rental. However it is 15-20 minutes out of town at a place called Bowser, a little village without anything but a gas station and a grocery store. The rental was so small that there was only room for a bed, a table and 2 chairs. There weren't any drawers but only pull-outs to put your clothes in. The shower ran hot water for a few minutes and then cold the rest of the time.
The kitchen had a 2-burner stove, a microwave, and the refrigerator was so small that the freezer was only 2" high. You couldn't put meat or ice cream in it. The place was not overly clean.
The bed was not comfortable and we kept rolling to the middle. After a week, we asked for a change of bed linen and received it.
There were no amenities and we bought our own soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc.
There was not a safety lock on the door and this made me nervous.
The part I found daunting was the entrance which was a steep, narrow road going straight down from the main road. It was challenging and then someone parked a car at the side part way down, which made it worse because you had to miss the car as you drove down.
I was very sick and asked to leave early and even requested your company to ask Carolyn to let us leave sooner, but she was adamant that if we left, we would not get a refund. I couldn't afford to lose all that money. I will never pay in advance again for a rental that I got on line. That was a good lesson for me.
Also, the rental did not look like the picture at all and the whole thing was a misrepresentation. it was not in Qualicum Beach, but 15 minutes away and did not look like the picture. I would never stay there again or deal with your company in the future.

And now for the truth!! This guest was hunting for cheap real estate that she had seen 10 years ago. Once realized that the market was out of their reach due to the increase in property values, decide they wanted to return to a more affordable market in Washington State.
Yes, we are 15 minutes North of The Town of Qualicum Beach. Our village has all the necessities', including restaurants, gas, groceries, bank, gym, Pub,Art galleries, which is located 1/4 mile north, walking distance on the beach.
And the rest of this review is simply excrement from a Bull
