Seasalt Suite is actually a gorgeous, professionally designed 2 bedroom cottage, perfect for one or two couples, or a family. The word "cottage" doesn't do it justice because it's decorated beautifully in a modern, creative, mid-century style. It isn't really a suite, because it's completely separated from the home of your friendly hosts, with its own private deck and patio to enjoy the morning sunshine and look out past the pretty rockery into the naturalized garden. We enjoyed the use of a well equipped kitchen beside a pretty eating area that looks through glass doors to the deck and patio outside. The cottage also has a full washer/dryer for guests to use. The large glass front shower in the bathroom is wonderful!!!! The master bedroom features a very comfortable, king sized bed with ample closet space, and the second bedroom features a very comfortable, queen sized memory foam bed that pulls out from a couch (our friend who had recently injured his back said the bed was excellent), great closet space, and unique sliding doors to separate it and give privacy from the living room. The stylish but very liveable living room features a beautiful, modern fireplace and television above it for those who might wish to watch it, and a great sound system. The light simply floods in through large windows that span along the entire length of the cottage on one side - it's really great in the morning to have the sun stream in as you roll up the blinds! Although there are neighbouring homes, the location of Seasalt Suite at the rear of the large property ensures excellent privacy, with almost a park-like feel as you look out of the windows. The entryway is perfect for hanging jackets and leaving shoes as you return from walks along the nearby beach or multiple trails, all very close to the cottage. Seasalt is located within a very pretty neighbourhood of well kept homes, all with impeccably designed gardens, and within walking, biking, or short driving distance from many amenities within the Qualicum area. There's a lovely trail that winds through a gentle forest slope down to the famous beach. Your hosts, Laura and Boyd, are full of great ideas and suggestions for things to do and places to visit during your stay at Seasalt. Along with visits to the amazing beaches in the area, we thoroughly enjoyed some wonderful local restaurants and pubs, stunning art galleries, vintage shops, and various charming local outdoor markets (which run on both Saturday and Sunday) while we were there. We particularly enjoyed the unique "Goats on the Roof" market (there really are living goats, on the roof!), the Cuckoo for delicious Italian food, the Black Goose for very good English pub style fare, and the unique Final Approach restaurant for a great brunch while we watched small airplanes and helicopters land and take off from the adjoining tiny airport! The staff told us pilots of small planes often fly in for a quick breakfast or lunch! For those who love to golf, there were some beautiful golf courses in the area. We even noticed a very cute fairy tale mini-golf feature for families in close-by Parksville! The famous Rathtrevor beach and provincial park is also in Parksville, a short drive away but not to be missed - incredible! Seasalt Suite is such a great place to stay if you are thinking of a visit to the island - it shows the best of small town life on Vancouver Island, about 30 minutes from the Nanaimo ferry terminal, a short ferry ride over to Gabriola Island, and about 2 hours drive across island to Tofino or Ucluelet. Laura and Boyd - THANK YOU! We will be back!
What an amazing suite! My friend and I had an amazing time in Qualicum Beach thanks to Boyd & Laura’s hospitality. The suite was perfectly appointed with everything we needed, along with an incredibly comfy bed, beautiful bathroom, and great sound system. I would live there if I could! I’d absolutely recommend Seasalt to anyone looking to have an incredible stay on the Island.
