Our party of two adult couples stayed at the Ocean Crest motel in Qualicum Beach. We reserved two rooms and the price was very reasonable. This is pretty much a classic Mom and Pop run motel. It will remind you of a US roadside motel from the 1960s and 1970s I think there are about twenty rooms.

The rooms were clean and the amenities were spartan. One of our rooms had a kitchenette and the other had a small refrigerator. The owners were very accommodating.

It was rather warm during our stay and the rooms do have air conditioning. The AC is rather loud at night and does not regulate the temperature particularly well.

The location is across the highway from the beach. It is probably 2-3 miles from motel to city center. There is free parking at the motel.

The pricing was very reasonable and it was much more comfortable for us to stay in two rooms instead of crowding into one. Overall, this exceeded my expectations.

Stayed here with family for three nights. No frills, but it’s clean and spacious. The beds were fine. There is a fridge in the room. The A/C works well and isn’t too loud.

We had three people and they kept only giving us two towels, but would give is a third if we walked to the office and asked. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner as the hotel shampoo comes in a little packet and isn’t great.

Hotel staff are friendly and courteous.

This hotel is fine and is cheaper than others in the area. We will stay again.

I went to Trivago to find something in the Parksville/Qualicum area of Vancouver island for our 3-day holiday. The best deal with the best best rating was Ocean Crest.

Before we had left Victoria, they had emailed and called to be sure that an upstairs room would be ok. We were welcomed efficiently by friendly Andy Lee. We were a little nervous because it looked a bit old. The Lee family probably did a lot of renovating and improving when they bought it. Bay windows and sturdy stairs and railings, too.

You won't find huge marble bathrooms here; you won't find much by way of amenities. What you will find is a nice upgraded bathroom, an air conditioner, a useful vanity, a fridge, flatscreen, big room. It was absolutely spotless with large comfy beds. Even enough hangars! Also soundproof.

We got a really good deal, considering it was mid-summer and hot and sunny.

Room Tip: Further from the road will be quieter -- not that it's really noisy anyway.

An older motel that is well maintained and quite frankly, just beautiful. We had a great time here - it was comfortable and charming and as we both maintain busy lives in Kamloops, it was the perfect break from reality.

Pretty much chose this motel at random, as I wanted to be near the water, but within easy driving distance from the Nanaimo Ferry. What a pleasant surprise!. Smaller, but very clean rooms, great TV, and a helpful and friendly front desk, although language can be a little bit of a challenge. Fantastic seafood restaurant next door. Not pet friendly, but no problems with letting my dog sleep in rig, which she actually prefers.
