“Awesome park so close to home!”

Went there today for a much repeated visit. We love to fish and regularly catch trout both from the shore and from our boat, They are developing more camp sites every year. We love to go there "off season" when it's quiet and no noisy radios around.

“Fun area attraction”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

We discovered this excursion while on shore leave from our cruise vacation. After renting a car, we followed a long gravel road off the highway to a little mobile building deep in the woods where we were able to sign up for the short one and a half tour of the local cave system. It was offered by the cruise line at a much inflated cost and were happy that they were able to accommodate us upon our arrival. Our guide Forrest was happy to skip his "maintenance" duties assigned for the day and take just the two of us up the mountain before the throngs of "shipmates" arrived by bus. Equipped with lighted helmets, we descendent into the pitch black caves and into the underworld. At one point Forrest had us turn our helmet lights off to experience the sensation of total blackness! A very strange feeling and just a bit scary! When we got to the end our tour, he showed us how we could go even deeper and further down the rapidly narrowing cave walls, but frankly we enjoyed just as far as we went. Overall, a very fun adventure!

“Caving in Vancouver Island”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

Horne Lake Caves is well worth a visit. I chose the Ice Age Adventure, 3 hr. long, touring 3 different caves. The largest toured was Riverbend with different stalactites and stalagmites. The toughest part for me was the 1 km hike up to cave opening. Inside was tortuous but perfectly doable. The guides named Myles and Mehdi were knowledgeable and considerate. After Riverbend, we visited Main Cave and Lower Cave which don't take as long to view. My favorite part was the Buddha formation in the pool at the far end of Riverbend.

“Pretty cool”

Went with my cousin. It was really neat. Unfortunately she got scared so I couldn't go spelunking as far into the caves as I wanted. Friendly staff helped us out with helmets and lights. Fun times!!

“Loved it”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

We took part in the self guided tour and explored the lower and main cave. The lower cave was wet, but still easily passible.

It was a great way to spend a couple hours.
