Great little roadside cafe. Hubby and son had the cheddar bacon eggs benedict and loved it. I had an omelette and it was great. The artwork for sale all over the restaurant gave us lots to look at as the wait for our meal was quite long (40 minutes) It was really busy and we weren't in a rush, trying to live on island time instead of the hustle and bustle of the city. All in all a great home-style meal.

It is a simple, no frills, roadside cafe with average food and friendly service. It does have character and fits in well with the area that hosts campers and RV enthusiasts. My oyster burger was cooked well and the fries were crisp. If you want a home-style quick meal, then stop, eat, and look at the locals and the hanging paintings that are for sale.

Often overlooked, the Sandbar Cafe is cozy and affordable. With works of art dawning the walls, this place has much more to offer than just great food.

I have been here several times. Most of the time the food is great. I had prime rib and yorkshire the last time. While the prime rib was relatively good, the yorkshire pudding tasted like it had been done the day before and reheated. All in all, the food is usually good. The view of the beach is quite good and the service always friendly and efficient. I certainly reccomend this place to friends and visitors but do ask if the yorkshire puddings are fresh.

We drove out from Qualicum Beach to this funky little place in Qualicum Bay. Another person said it perfectly: think diner meets local art display. The walls are loaded with local art and the place is loaded with local character. Don't expect fancy here but do expect food that is cooked in a true home-style manner.

We had one of their 3 breakfast specials, Bacon & Cheese Omelette and my husband had their Eggs Benedict.
The bacon & cheese omelette was loaded with bacon and they did use real cheddar cheese, not that awful processed stuff. It also had some hollandaise sauce on top and came with tasty pan fries (the real thing, not those disgusting frozen ones) and a choice of toast (I went for rye toast).
The Eggs Benedict looked real good and my husband said it did not disappoint. He too had the tasty home fries with his and we were both (pleasantly) surprised that they used real ham sliced off an actual ham bone. Sure, Eggs Benny usually calls for Canadian Bacon but I have to admit this thick and tasty hunk of real ham was a treat.

The place is simple and down-home and service was definitely attentive and homey.

Since we are not crazy about the ordinary ubiquitous coffee that would be our only (soft) complaint. But since most diners serve that kind of coffee we aren't complaining because that's very usual.

We will definitely go back for breakfast another time and both of us agreed we'd like to try it for lunch one day as well.
