Decided to stop at Qualicum Beach en route to Tofino from Victoria and waht a good choice it was.
Overlooking the Georgia Strait, it has a busy sandy beach once you are over the pebbly boundary and shallow water, which is well used by families.
In the evening the lights of the cruise ships can be spotted as they make their way to Alaska. However the real highlight are the amazing sunsets with fiery reds and oranges to pastel blues and purples.
QB is within easy driving distance of Cathedral Grove and its wonderful forest and th walks around Little Qualicum Falls.
QBhas a good shopping area with Qualicum Foods being one of the nicest supermarkets you'll ever visit.
We stayed at the Old Dutch Inn which is across the road from the beach. It was very comfortable, clean and the staff very hospitable. The food was well prepared and tasty and well priced. In the evening you can sit on your part of the balcony and watch the sunset/ cruise ships.
Qualicum Beach, I'd like to return for longer than the two night stopover.
