“Pretty run down”
Reviewed 17 December 2013 via mobile

On the plus side, the shower was hot and the pillows were nice.

On the down side.... I had no control over the heat, it was 25 in the room and the front desk thought that was fine;the wifi is intermittent at best; there's no plugs in the room (ipad, cell phone? Too bad); I have a dust allergy and woke up wickedly stuffed up.

The front desk was issuing someone else space heaters (no need to swap rooms!). It's a dive.

I will never book another hotel without reading the reviews first. Everyone else has said it best, but the real kick in the rear is we had booked two rooms for two people each. They ended up charging my card twice for each room and won't return my money. Said I was a no show. Incompetent, rude, nasty and that was just the front desk. We arrived too late to look for another place. I would not recommend this hole to my dog and he has been dead for two years.

This is the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in and that is not an exaggeration. After a very long day of driving I was thrilled to have a shower until I walked in to the room it looks like someone was killed on the carpet there are so many stains it feels like a homeless crack head housing unit You didn't even want to touch the door handles. Everything was dirty and looked like it was never cleaned.

This is a property best suited for housing football teams, biker gangs and the homeless, not necessarily in that order. The property became non-smoking in 2012, but since no one has seen a need to clean the rooms since then, they still smell like a bar from the 70's. But that means the aroma matches the decor. Off sales from the front desk until 3 a.m., free breakfast that includes one orange for the whole hotel, no tea, and a coffee maker someone stole from an R.V. Signs that advise guest to knock the mud off their boots, no air conditioning and train tracks less than a block away. Those familiar with how good this chain can be in the U.S. will not even recognize it here. Stay elsewhere in Lloyd if you can, keep driving if you can't.

i realize that Lloyd is an oil town and prices are high but this tired old nag needs to be put down. the carpet was like a science experiment. i didn't even want to take my shoes off.
the breakfast was pretty pathetic. This stay was due to a blizzard and any port in a storm? i will look harder next time.

We were paying $130/night plus an extra $30/night because we had four people in our room bringing the rate to $160/night. It was dirty and smelly and their free continental breakfast is bread and stale muffins. We moved to Days Inn which was great and less money!!

We were attending a family funeral and there was apparently a large convention in town so the only hotel available for 2 consecutive nights for a block of rooms was the Econo Lodge. Our first impression when driving up was not good, but it did improve slightly once inside. The outside is very old and needs to be updated. You have to park across the street and lug your bags back to the hotel. But the lot has cameras and is monitored at night. The lobby was reasonable but could use some new carpet. We were greeted very politely and checked in quickly. We asked to see the room first and they were happy to have us do that. The beds were pretty new and looked clean, but the carpet and fixtures are all old. You had to let the shower run for a few minutes until the rusty water was gone before you stepped in. The bathroom fan turned on with the light and was extremely loud and very annoying. The toilet was plugged but they were happy to provide a handy man with a plunger. The windows did stop most of the train noises outside and the air conditioner was quiet. The continental breakfast was an interesting experience...by 6:15 the oilfield staff staying there had taken every crumb of food. If you did make it down there you had to be quick to grab your muffin and run. We asked if they would be adding more food since the breakfast lasted until 10 and the answer was no, but we could make toast if there was any bread left. However, the restaurant was a pleasant surprise. The food was good, but we felt sorry for the lone waitress who was working both the dining room and bar. She was understandably overwhelmed, but did the best she could and was very professional. We were happy just to have a room and figured it was named the Econo Lodge for a reason. With some updating and repair, this could be a nice budget hotel. There were no pool or gym facilities.

Room Tip: Ask for the side that does not face the tracks.
