“Fabulous West Coast Park”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

On the west coast of Vancouver Island this park is only one of many to visit. It is right on the edge of the Pacific ocean, great for family picnics in the summer, walking trails, easy access.

“Beautiful Beach and Park!”
Reviewed 7 October 2013

Visited here last month while spending time in Victoria. We drove south for the day to see the southern part of Vancouver Island. I had read about this beach and thought it would make a good stop for the end of the day. In addition, unlike some beaches in the area, you don't have to walk far to get to the beach itself as the parking lot is close by. When I stepped on the beach I was wowed by the wild beauty of the place. The forest comes down close to the shore and the beach is covered by pebbles rather than sand. The sound of the surf breaking and receding on the shore with the pebbles is almost melodic. I had not heard sounds like this on any other beach. I loved the pebbles on the beach although it was a little harder to walk on than a sand beach. The scenery in each direction is dramatic and beautiful. There are a number of driftwood logs to sit or climb on. One big piece of driftwood stump was close to the surf and made for great photo ops if one is standing on it. It was also very nice to walk in the adjacent forest of tall spruce, fir and cedar trees. There are lots of ferns and other greenery and winding paths to enjoy. There is also a nice park before the beach with green grass, trees and picnic tables. I wish we could have stayed longer as this is a place to savor and explore. Highly recommend this park if you are ever in the Sooke area or driving on Highway 14. It is a few miles outside of Sooke and well worth a trip!

“Excellent park for those who have limited mobility”
Reviewed 14 September 2013

This park is one that offers paved access just short of the beach and a very good picnic area. Any person in an un-motorized wheelchair will require help from friends or family to negotiate a medium sized hill to the main scenic picnic area. As with most all coastal parks on the island, the views are great. A must visit for those not interested in hiking to a more remote view.

“Take your Breath Away”
Reviewed 8 September 2013

Nestled on the wild west coast, the ocean will mesmerize you like no other. Day use picnic area beachfront rocky not for mobility challenged but from the picnic area you can see and hear the amazing ocean.
