“Very relaxing!”
Reviewed 6 July 2010

LOCATION
Located off the road to East Sooke Park, up a large hill with a great view of the mountains and ocean . The 2 suites are in the same building, which is separate from the main house. This location is about 10 minutes from downtown Sooke but is very private.

ROOM
The room was really nice and comfortable. Very cozy and relaxing. It had a very comfortable bed with a 2-way fireplace separating it from the sitting area. The kitchen area was minimal, but had a small bar fridge, a coffee press, mugs, wine glasses, a bottle opener, etc. which was all we needed. There is also a breakfast bar with stools at the front of the room (under the windows).

The are windows all across the front which gives a great view. There was an amazing sunrise in the morning that we could watch from our bed. My only complaint is that the windows don't have window coverings...they're not needed as the suite is separate from the main house and totally private but this still made me a bit uncomfortable.

The bathroom had a double vanity, plenty of storage, a jetted tub (the jets were really loud and not that relaxing) and a shower.

Outside is a private deck (though it's in the same building as the other suite, so they're fairly close to each other) with patio furniture and chaise lounges. There were plenty of deer coming and going while we were outside which was fun.

FOOD
When we booked the B&B Bonnie checked with us for food likes/dislikes and allergies so that they could tailor the food to our needs. For breakfast, we were asked upon check-in what time we'd like our basket delivered.

Bonnie and Ben delivered a delicious breakfast basket to our room in the morning so that we could enjoy breakfast at our leisure. The breakfast had granola, yogurt, fresh fruit and baking.

We received a lunch bag when we checked out so that we could have a picnic in the area. It had wraps, fresh veggies, water and snacks.

OVERALL
I highly recommend this B&B. It's the only B&B I've ever stayed in as I don't like the idea of staying in someones home, eating breakfast at their table with other guests, etc. However this B&B isn't like that at all and are there to make your stay comfortable, but otherwise leave you alone the entire time. The room was very clean, modern and comfortable and the location was great.

I loved the location of this property...everything in the vicinty is really a 30 minute or less drive away, so being up on the mountain was really a treat...the house is fabulous in its overall design and has high end finishes. This property worked well for two parties that know each other, because although each suite has separate entrances and decks, the interior doors are separated by a thumb turn lock and we were able to keep those doors open when we wanted, then closed them for privacy. The bed is divine, making it hard to get up in the mornings. Thick robes are provided, so once you are enticed by the sunrise to get up, you can make yourself some coffee or tea in room, lounge by the gas fireplace and take in all the beauty. Bonnie delivers a great breakfast to your room at the time you specify, which affords another opportunity to ease into your day. A second bonus, and a first for this seasoned B & B er, was the picnic lunch provided. The area is so serene and beautiful; this property is well worth a visit. We were treated to a visit by two bucks just outside the deck. This part, East Sooke, has excellent hiking trails and beautiful coves that can keep you busy for several days.

This B and B is heaven on earth. The gloriously beautiful ultra modern house, the setting high on a mountain top off the beaten path, the exquisite room, the view, the host and hostess---absolute perfection. I can't say enough good things. And the eager willingness of the hostess to pack a to-go breakfast and deliver it EARLY the next morning, along with a delicious picnic lunch was really appreciated. We wished we could have stayed far longer. We felt pampered and relaxed and perfectly contented there. You will surely NOT regret staying there.

My husband and I stayed at the Einer's for two nights. Our goal was to relax and do as little as possible. Not only were we successful at that endevour but we also managed to find a true jewel of a place in the process. We were unable to find a single fault. The rooms are open and spacious with high ceilings and windows that make you feel a part of nature as you cocoon. The rooms are toward the minimalist but with soft and elegant touches that don't detract from the beauty outside. Large cotton robes are made available as well as disposable flip flops (should you forget yours). There is also a small CD player.
We had peace and privacy. The rooms are not part of the main house and you don't feel any intrusion from the the owners, which we have felt in the past at other B&B's. The house was purposefully built that way so that both the guests and owners could have a real sense of independence.
Breakfast is brought at your chosen time. The room has a small fridge, decaf and regular coffee which you can make with a french press, even then, when breakfast comes, it arrives with more fresh coffee and fresh juice. The food was delicious, filling, and visually fabulous. A picnic bag is also given to you if you choose to have one for the afternoon. This too was very well thought out.
Our experience was that the Einer's in no way compared to any B&B that we have been in before. It was elegant and warm. Every detail thought out and nothing left to be desired.

It's obvious the Einers have put all of themselves into designing and building on this unique setting high above the Juan de Fuca Strait. All the reviews were correct - this is the place to stay in Sooke. I was facinated with the architecture while my wife enjoyed the luxurious accommodations. We watched a beautiful sunrise unfold in full view of our large picture window followed by a great breakfast delivered by the Einers to our room.
Ben Einer graciously offered to shuttle us to our hike in the East Sooke Regional Park. This enabled us to hike the entire length of the shoreline and have a car waiting at the end. A difficult 6 hour hike worth every sore muscle it produced. but not for the faint hearted. Bonnie packed us a great lunch which kept us energized.
If your interested in great vistas and inspiring architecture you'll love this place. At this time there are two rooms available but they are working on two more and a seperate guest house. Each room has its own deck, fireplace, sitting area, large bath, and super comfortable bed. We can't wait to come back.

You can see in the photos on their website that Einers Above Race Rocks is a special and very unusual bed and breakfast. The modern, beautiful building, designed by Ben Einer, sits atop a mountain overlooking evergreen-covered hills all the way to the Pacific below -- a majestic view. It was designed to take maximum advantage of its awesome setting, with numerous windows and private decks. The decor is sophisticated, upscale and very comfortable. And the Einers themselves give the place its homey feel. You can have utter peace and privacy, but the Einers are also warm, available, and helpful in sharing information about both the area and the journey that brought them to this heavenly spot. Bonnie delivers her scrumptious, bountiful breakfasts to your suite -- we had blueberry pancakes, fresh squeezed orange juice, fruit, omelettes and yogurt. (She had previously inquired about dietary restrictions.) And, she sends you off each day with the best picnic lunch, One of ours featured a selection of cheeses, fresh baguettes and Island-smoked salmon, plus fruit and tasty deserts. We were torn between sharing this place with all of our friends and keeping it all to ourselves. It's that special. If you are going to Vancouver Island, with a loved one or solo, it would be a mistake to miss the Einers experience.

My wife & I always prefer to stay at B&B's when we travel. We travel a lot and of all the B&B's we have stayed at Einer's is the best!
Owners Ben & Bonnie made us feel very welcome! The breakfast's are served in the guest's rooms and were fabulous! Bonnie even packed us a wonderful picnic lunch to take with us while traveling around the island!
The guest rooms are seperated from the owners house, are all new and very nicely decorated and cozy. If you treasure your privacy it is possible to spend your day without even seeing your hosts, but if you do that you will miss getting to know a wonderful couple!
The location of Einer's B&B is so beautiful that I cannot describe it adequately! On a mountain top overlooking the Straight of Juan De Fuca with the majestic Olympic Range on the US side, Race Rocks light house below, the lights of Victoria twinkling at night, it is truely breathtaking! The deer feeding on the lawn are a bonus!
Bike / walking trails are just minutes away as are whale watching boat tours, kayaking lessons / rentals, and of course the beautiful city of Victoria, which you can see from the B&B is just a short scenic drive away.
I'm sure you will want to return to Einer's again and again. I want to!
