“Idyllic waterfront setting and sumptuous food”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

White tables, candlelight and an oceanfront setting sets the scene for a memory here. You're seated with homemade bread and a tempting wine list. We loved the music--it soothed our traveler hearts and brought a smile to our faces. The Ploughman's Lunch appetizer featured three kinds of homemade salami (cherry, apricot were two ingredients), oil, grainy mustard, aged chedar, thin slices of grilled bread, plus pickled beans and onions. Wonderful. We had the beef with goat cheesecake, and the flash poached Albacore tuna. Both meat and fish were very well prepared and featured large portions and crispy vegetables. We both did feel like there was perhaps a bit too much going on--too much sauce, perhaps too many ingredients sometimes overpowering individual tastes. The quince preserve and large goat cheese cheesecake plus salted caramel sauce felt overwhelming together. Overall though it was delicious and a night to remember. A wonderful spot. Don't miss out. Reserve in a few days in advance if you can.

“Delicious food and presentation. Be prepared to stay a while”
Reviewed 18 August 2014

What's not to love? Fresh, local, inventive, and delicious food. Although the fog rolled in the same time we did, the high perch in the side of the cliff above gardens and waves below could not have been better. Two couples catching up and all first time visitors to the restaurant, we enjoyed everything we tried. The local heirloom tomato salad was outstanding. There are no "sides," as the entire entree is artfully stacked. This gave us all a bit of a treasure hunt as we discovered what the chef had paired with the entree by unearthing it. Sure we were too full for dessert, we finally decided to share the (sinful) chocolate mousse. Then we all got a good laugh as they served us each a hand made truffle with the bill. We were there almost three hours, so if you are short on time, be sure to tell your server. Memorable treat!

“Point no Point is very much the point...”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

I have been to this lovely little restaurant on the west coast of Vancouver Island before - with my friends who live in the Sooke area. It has become a bit of a tradition and it never fails to satisfy. With an ever changing and somewhat eclectic menu it is always comforting to return to this little gem with the most incredible view of the Pacific. On this occasion my lovely partner an I shared the very fresh and nutritious fish chowder (only complaint - it could have been served hotter). Followed by one of their fresh garden salads and then a lovey penne with cream sauce - fresh vegetables and salmon. We skipped desert in favor of stroll down to the very private beach ( they provide you with the gate code). A wonderful way to enjoy the day. This is a must-do part of your itinerary when visiting Sooke - make a point of it!

“The service was wonderful and the food, delicious”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

A lot of the menu items appeared to be fairly sweet, but the chef was very accommodating and made some modifications for me. The meat was flavorful and very tender. The offerings were pretty unique, pairing some unusual flavors together. Definitely not a chain restaurant experience. There were great views to be had from the tables and the servers were professional and knowledgeable about the menu. We ate dinner here one night and then had lunch here the day we left the area. There's an entirely different menu for both dinner and lunch.
