“No lunch packing required!”
Reviewed 11 February 2014

This was my family's first time at Fernie and first time ski-in/ski-out experience. It was wonderful. We stayed in a 2 bedroom premium suite which had everything needed. No it's not granite counter tops or stainless steel appliances but it's clean and comfortable. The best part for me as the mother...the room was steps away from the ski hill. If we got cold or hungry it was right there. I didn't have to pack lunches. One thing I'll do for next time though is request a room that doesn't overlook the chairlift. Our mornings were off to a pretty early start with the snow cats driving by and the pre-morning lift activities. All in all, one of our best family vacations!

The hotel is an excellent location. It is right on the hill by the lifts. We were in room 212... Which is right over the Kelsey's restaurant. The suite was nice a little bit dated and the beds were quite hard. The hotel room has everything you need. This hotel is wonderful for people who want to be awake at 7am by rock music playing outside of your room until 9am. The hot tub is quite small. Made for a group of 4-6 people.

Room Tip: Avoid room 212 and anything on this side of the lodge.

My family and I stayed at the Cornerstone Lodge for Fernie's opening week end. We truly enjoyed the room's proximity to the chairlifts.....a true ski in/out lodge. We had a fantastic experience facilitated by the staff who were courteous and efficient during check in. The condo was very clean and the amenities created a feel of being home away from home. The Cornerstone Lodge is at the top of our list for ski destination from this point forward. To top it all, we were pampered by the tranquility of the shoulder season which not only meant small crowds at the ski hill, but also a feel of having the entire lodge to ourselves.

We have stayed at the Cornerstone Lodge several times over the past 10 years. We have always rented a premium 2 bedroom unit. While the location is great everything in the unit needs updating badly. The beds were hard as rocks, the bedding hasn't changed in the past 10 years and is very very worn. The sofa was broken, along with the TV. The TV had basic cable and a VCR! Who has tapes anymore, couldn't even find one to rent in Fernie. With just a few basic updates i.e. down comforters on beds, new sheets, new sofa, flat screen TV and DVD player this place could be great again and we would return. For now we are spending our 10 days in Fernie somewhere else.

Room Tip: Do not stay here until updated.

Cornerstone Lodge in Fernie is a ski in/ski out property at the Fernie Ski Resort. Check in was quick and easy at the Griz Inn. We stayed in unit 205, a well appointed, 2 bedroom condo. Full kitchen,washer/dryer, full bathroom, two bedrooms with queen beds and large closets, dressers, night stand. The master bedroom had an ensuite. In our four night stay we did not have any housekeeping service which after two days would've been nice to have had at least fresh towels. View from the bedrooms large windows was the ski hill and breathtaking Rocky Mountains. Gas fireplace, deck with Adriondack chairs to relax in. The only problem with the unit was the antiquated TV that seemed to have a mind of it's own - sometimes worked and sometimes didn't, definitely needs replacing. Other than that it was a terrific property. Had a hot tub on the third floor, and Kelsey's restaurant was on the Main floor. Went with two teenage boys and they had a fantastic time skiing, as we did, skiing. SNow conditions were wonderful, everyone working there was super friendly. Definitely one of our favourite ski hills in the BC/Alberta region.

Room Tip: Ski in ski out property is the best.

Dear Szott,
Thank you so much for your kind words. We are delighted you found the unit, location and property to have all of the amenities required during your stay. We do sincerely apologize you did not get housekeeping after your second night. We have also had our maintenance team in to have a look at the television and the televisions are on our list of suggestions for owner upgrades this year. We look forward to your return visit.

Our suites have had all the amenities of home with the convenience of being right on the mountain. We first visited in the summer during bike season. There is a locker room available to secure bikes & skis in the underground parkade, so we don't have to worry about hauling gear up to our room. It is incredibly quiet in the summer & winter. Even with the parkade full over the Christmas break, you don't feel like you are in some busy hotel. In-room fireplace is nice to warm up after skiing. It is also nice to be able to stay inside to access the hot tub (my wife doesn't enjoy walking outside in the cold to jump into a hot tub). There is more attention paid to hallway clean-up during the winter compared to summer, as you always see cleaning staff tending to things. Nice patio to take in the mountain scenery. You are right above 2 restaurants & a daycare & only 20 feet away from a bar.Despite the Griz Bar being so close, you don't hear anything to disturb your sleep at night. You could spend a lot more money renting a private chalet or staying at Lizard Creek Lodge just down the hill, but why? Sure Super 8 & Wolf's Den are cheaper, but do they have in-suite laundry, stoves, & heated underground parking? Reasonable rate for all the conveniences of home.

We needed a quite get-away from work. We were recommended the Cornerstone by friends. We were able to get a 2 bedroom condo unit looking onto the mountain. It was very clean and very quiet. We had such a good first night that we decided to make that our base for the next 3 nights. We headed south across the boarder to Whitefish for the day. This was only about a 2 hr drive. The Cornerstone was great location for the day trips that we had planned. I was shocked as how quiet it was there. Definately what we were wanting. There is now the zip line running there as well. The only thing that we were disappointed with was there was only one restaurant and it closed early. (due to the slow season) There wasnt a pool , but there was a very small hot tub that we didnt use (it was 30 something out...used the AC instead!)
Would def go there again:)
