“Great Snow!”

We go every year and love the powder! The polar peak chair makes the bowls a lot more accessible than they used to be back in the day.

“Great powder skiing!”
Reviewed 14 October 2013 via mobile

Great mountain to ski on. Lots of powder and the new polar peak chair adds more high alpine terrain to great tree skiing resort. Prices seem a bit on the high side.

“Great place for family ski vacation”
Reviewed 23 September 2013

We've been to Fernie six times with the kids over the last fifteen years, and it remains one of their favorite places to ski. It's definitely a place where you go to ski or board, and the variety of the terrain is some of the best and most interesting I've skied in the Pacific NW. The lower lift design can lead to overcrowding during peak times (the Elk Quad really needs to be upgraded to a high speed quad), but once up on the mountain it's easy to find wide open runs. (We also tend to go during off-peak weeks, so that helps.)

The onsite lodging is reasonable (though be sure what you reserve meets you ski-in/ski-out needs, as there are many on slope accommodations that are ski-in, but not ski-out), our favorites are the Cornerstone Lodge (not fancy, but dependable and centrally located) and Lizard Creek Lodge (only when running special deals). Apres ski is quite limited, but that's okay with us as after a day of skiing Fernie we're usually to beat to do much more than eat and sleep. Convenient grocery store in town makes condo living easy.

If visiting for 4 or more days of skiing, check out the RCR Card (if still offered). It needs to be bought in December, but at ~$90 CAD with the first, fourth and seventh days free, and 10% off other days and some other discounts, it can be a good deal. We've also had very good experience with the ski school at Fernie, particularly for the upper skill groups.

“Aerial Park - incredible fun”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

We sprung for a big family adventure date - 3 hours on the Fernie Alpine Resort Aerial Park. $150 for four of us, but it was well worth it. All equipment provided, excellent safety measures, skilled guides. The park is essentially a secluded spot in the tall trees, a short walk from the main lodge, where they have built obstacle courses in the air - 12 feet and 24 feet above ground, including 3 zip lines. The kids had the time of their life, and even the one adult enjoyed it. This is can't-miss stuff.

“Fabulous Fernie”
Reviewed 23 August 2013

There is something for everyone at Fernie in the winter. The snow was great even though we missed the big dumps,we still found fresh turns most mornings. The terrain is varied, open bowls then into trees and miles of very well groomed runs. If you want an easy day or a scary day it is all here and in bucket loads. This mountain should be proud to have some of the nicest locals you ever meet anywhere-just keen to know a bit about you, if you having a top time and even showed us some local only powder-we felt honoured.

A great shame that the name is blackened by a cheap and nasty CAT skiing operation called Fernie Wilderness Adventure or FWA.

If you stay on the hill you must go to the town it is really great and some very nice bars and food.
