We booked 4 days of guided fishing ahead of time on the Elk River. Then the worst floods they'd had in BC and Alberta for ten years stirred up the rivers and left us with a bunch of YUK. The guides were fantastic here though and tried to occupy us with stream and lake fishing. They were knowledgeable and the lunches were the best we have ever had on a fishing trip, full of fruit and salad and edible sandwiches.
Paul set us up each morning and was generous lending stuff like wading boots and a belt for my waders. Leah was a steady, friendly female presence, which I appreciated. Louis was a good guide and had lots of stories to tell. Aubrey was really easy to be around and relaxed, even when we didn't catch anything. On the last day, my husband finally caught some bull trout so all is well. I was impressed with how effectively Elk River Guiding Co. dealt with the tough situation Mother Nature had brought earlier in the month. These guys try really hard to please and they know what they are doing. Though this was probably the most expensive guided trip my husband has ever done, the scenery and the friendliness made it worthwhile.
