Fantastic location, and food brilliant ! Issue with front reception re dogs in lodge and smell of urine- they stated it was due to bats, no dogs allowed. Ok fine - while 3 dogs came out side in my lodge - urine smell and lies are difficult to handle on a vaca. I have pets to so i get it , just dont lie.

I have no idea why this lodge isn't full of tourists like the lodges in Banff and Lake Louise are at this time of the year, but I am grateful for it and the authentic, Canadian, luxury lodge experience provided by this resort. The setting is spectacular - on par or better than Lake Louise. The service is wonderful. The restaurant was excellent and the suite we have is better than that provided by most 5 star hotels. It is located 10 km up a twisty, bumpy, gravel road, but the pay off at the end is well worth the drive. It is as close as you can get to camping in an isolated spot in the BC Rockies, while having access to luxury accomodation. One of the best resorts I have ever stayed in.

Room Tip: Book the most expensive room you can afford to ensure that you can enjoy the spectacular mountain vi...

This is the second time we have been to ILL. The first was during summer and the second was this April. Got two wonderfull days of cat skiing. Fresh winter pow on Saturday and more springlike powder on Sunday. The staff and crew were all top notch! Corey and Brenda knew exactly where to take us to maximise our powder experience so late in the season. True 5 star!

I didn't stay here but did come up for a day to snow shoe around the lake, have a great lunch and visit the spa.

We were brought up to the lodge by a cat, first time I had ever travelled on one of these babies. The access road was pretty lumpy due to it going through some freezing and thawing as it was late in the season, it takes about a half an hour to get from the last parking lot up to the lodge and the cat holds about twelve passengers.

The snow was amazing, we found that the snowshoe / cross country trails were not well marked, and despite trying to follow the map and the posted signs still ended up not traveling where we wanted to and somehow despite turning away from the avalanche area signs still ended up going through ithe area as it was the only groomed trail....met up with another group who travelled up the hill with us and they agreed that the map and signs had led them astray as well.

Lunch was a choice of a soup or salad and a chefs plate, I chose the chefs plate and was quite happy with it, the crime brûlée dessert was runny although tasty and the biscotti was a bit burnt.

I have pictures to post but can't see a link to add them

Note - If you are traveling to the parking lot in a car be advised that it is about 8 km up from the highway and some spots might be a bit dicey to get through if your car is low to the ground!

From start to finish the entire experience is all class in mountain fashion. The staff are well trained and safety is clearly a priority. I have been twice and will be there again. I also used the spa and followed a day of powder boarding on fresh tracks with a great massage. Perfect before a delicious meal with new and old friends

From the moment they pick you up in the snowcat until the time you depart, this is the absolute perfect ski vacation.

Lodging Experience: Our group of 12 stayed in the Cedar Lodge. Rooms were large and very nice -- although time spent in the room is minimal. Happy hour in a rustic bar upon arrival and then each day after skiing. Hottub back at Cedar Lodge. Gourmet dinners in dining lodge. The food was outstanding. You sit with your Cat group and perhaps a guide or two. Excellent wine list. Excellent service. Then back to the bar to sit by fire for a few nightcaps. The staff really hustles and makes you feel welcome at all times. There are only 36 skiers on site - so it has a small comfortable feeling.

Skiing: Skiing was perfect. (We lucked out and had significant snow while we were there) After arriving, you get fitted for skis. Each skier has his/her own locker with boot warmers, glove warmers, etc. Avalanche training on first morning. Terrain was awesome. This is not all cliff skiing or ultra-dangerous. Perfect glade runs and bowls with mega-powder. Our guides - Nick and Greg - were awesome. We did 13 or 14 runs a day. Found us fresh tracks for every run for 3 days. Truly amazing skiing in knee-deep powder for 7 hours without ever seeing another person, other than our group. Snowcat (expertly driven by MH) was comfy and fully stocked with food and beverages to refuel.

I'd say it's a "once in a lifetime experience" - but that would be wrong because we're all going back next year.
