We visited Connell house on a visit to Woodstock from Saint John. The lady we were visiting treated us to a tea at Connell House. It was excellent and the servers doted on our request for more than a couple of cups of tea. Made more special to find out that the young ladies prepared the menu at the tea. We were also entertained by piano and then enjoyed a very interested tour of the home. Very well maintained and restored beautifully.

As is true of many of the historic homes that are open to the public in this part Canada, they are more a collection of exhibits, rather than having a focus on the house itself. That said, this place had some very interesting exhibits. We had an excellent tour guide who had been here for years. The highlight for us was the music room upstairs. It houses the collection of a local gentleman, John Thompson. He just happened to come by when we were there and played a number of the instruments. He is a very talented man - actually built the harpsichord that is on display. What fun!
