We traded a studio lock-off that we own at Marriott Vacation Club for a one bedroom at Club Intrawest, a good trade indeed.
First impressions were that this is not Marriott Vacation Club, as soon as we entered the villa we realized that high standards of Marriott are just not there. Once we got over that and Intrawest is not Marriott we began to enjoy all that this resort has to offer.
All the good stuff:
A great place for kids, with the games room, TV theater room, playground and other activities.
A golf course on the premises, beautiful bike paths, bbq's, outdoor swimming pools. two hot tubs, spa availability and daily newspapers.
Free shuttle service to the hill, a great asset. There are two fee parking lots at the hill but on weekends they fill up, so you are directed to the $!5 pay lot!
Pleasant bilingual staff, always ready to help.
The not so good stuff:
Those villas are downright tired and have a late 1990's aura. The bathroom was remodeled though and the king sized bed was comfy. The sofa bed was as hard as a rock. Upon entering the carpet in the vestibule was downright filthy, perhaps from the skiers arriving after a day on the hill. Perhaps another type of flooring would be better.
The kitchen looked pretty much the same as it did when we toured the resort back in the 90's.
Probably improvements are being planned and maybe other units have been remodeled, but not this one.
Despite an Interval trade we were not availed the same privileges as 'members' as they are referred to. No discount on golfing, and just like anyone else we had to pay to go to the beach. Since the weather was very inclement, we never did get to the beach.
There is an extra 3% tourist tax in the pedestrian village, so that brings the sales tax up to 18%. Shopping is not a cheap adventure here. Stores like Roots are expensive. Americans accustomed to deep discounts and 4% sales tax are in for a surprise.
Still no question the 'joie de vivre' ( love of life) permeates the entire area. There is no question you are in Quebec, and I observed that most of the folks on the hill are indeed Montrealers, as French and other languages other in the vast majority.
