“Enjoyable summer stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2014

We stayed at Ermitage du Lac with our two children for 10 days in the summer of 2013. The hotel is very cute and clean, with pretty surroundings and friendly staff. It is also quiet, as it is not immediately situated on the main street. Our suite was spacious, with a very functional kitchenette, and a huge bathroom. Everything was very comfortable (the king size bed was amazing) except the sofa bed. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty, the only down side is that the eating area is quite small and finding a seat gets tricky. The pool is on the tiny side, but nice. The walk to the Lac Tremblant beach was easy and pleasant (~10 minutes), as well as getting to other village attractions. We would go back without thinking twice.

We stayed here as part of package holiday from CrystalSki (UK), in late March, 2014. Late in the season, but still LOTS of snow on the slopes, in the village, as well as actually falling during our 10 days there.

Lovely, quiet, room on the 4th floor, at the rear, facing the lake and side view of the slopes. No fireplace, but balcony (covered in snow!), well-equipped kitchenette, large LCD TV -and very large, very comfortable, bed!
No bath in our room (406), just a shower - so the large hot tub was very welcome, and we used it a lot. Never crowded, either, unlike some of the other local hotels, we were told.
Continental breakfast only (no extra charge), but lots of choice and usually not too busy, except at weekends.
Breakfast room doubles as a lounge area, with log fire - very pleasant.
A free coffee/hot chocolate machine is available there, 24 hrs, also.
Staff very friendly/helpful and most speak very good English, especially on Reception.

Short walk to the village - which is extremely pretty - or you can use the Cabriolet, which is free.
Also free is the very nice Gondola ride to the Soleil side of the mountain and the Casino, which is worth a visit, even if you don't gamble.
(You will need to buy lift passes to use the other gondolas/ski lifts - and these are not cheap, though a day pedestrian pass to see the (magnificent) view from the summit is only about 20 CAD and well worth it if you are a non-skier.)

Bear in mind that, in addition to ALL prices shown in the resort, there are 3 - yes 3! - taxes which are added to the prices shown. Add a tip and you are looking at over 1/3 more than is shown on restaurant menus, for example! (Will write separate reviews for the 3 restaurants which we used.)

The kitchenette includes fridge, microwave, crockery, cutlery, etc, so eating-in some nights was a cost-effective alternative to restaurants. There is a shop ("Magasin General" - near "La Source" indoor swimming pool) which is well stocked with food and drink.)
Note that there is no restaurant/bar in the hotel itself.

Apart from the skiing, by far the best day we had was Dog Sledding in the forest. This was with Expedition Wolf, booked via the Activity centre, near the top of the Cabriolet (look for the snowmobile, sled and dune buggy outside and, sometimes, a man with a husky!) This was expensive, though included transport there and back, but is a MUST DO! (I will write a separate review.)

Also good fun was SnowShoeing in another beautiful forest - we did this using a public bus (3 CAD each way) to "Grand Lodge", then a 10 CAD taxi to/from the place itself. (Ask at Reception for details. The ladies at the Information booth - near the road, just down from the bottom of the Cabriolet - were also very helpful regarding this - even booking a taxi to meet us at the bus stop.)

We also liked the idea of the Dune Buggy ride - but be warned that transport is NOT included and taxis would be extremely expensive! (Staff seem surprised when you don't have a car!)
Snowmobiling also possible, but we did not do this, as had previously done it (great!) in Bulgaria.
Ice skating available next to the quaint old church, right next to the hotel.

We found the Canadians a very friendly - and very chatty! - bunch - and the Yanks, too.
Not many Brits there, I suspect because of the distance and the costs. (But not unreasonable for a resort which - we were told - is ranked no. 6 in the WORLD!)

All in all - highly recommended!

I hope this gives you a good general idea of the hotel, the resort and activities but I will be happy to reply to any specific questions you may have.

Room Tip: 406 was very nice!

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and found the staff to be pleasant and polite. The room was perfect for our skiing holiday and we enjoyed the location and the fact that there was a lift up to the runs for the morning and a pleasant walk to the bars and restaurants in the evening. The room had a gas fire which made it very cozy and there was plenty of choice at the continental breakfast.

Room Tip: we stayed on the 3rd floor and it was very quiet.

The room is definitely a 4 star, which is spot on. But, and the buts are big:

1) This hotel is all the way at the other end of the village. It is a steep uphill climb to the lifts and most of the restaurants. There is a "people mover" to take you to the lifts (it is that far to require a people mover) but that stops at 5:00pm. So if you want to go to the restaurants and shops by the lifts after 5:00pm, you have a walk to the other end of the village up the steep hill.

2) The Wi-Fi is a major hassle. They say it is free but it keeps prompting you to upgrade to the "premium service". That is because the Wi-Fi is very limited and stops working after casual web browsing and some emails. It says you used 200MB for the casual browsing and emails but that is hard to understand. Didn't use the internet for movies, videos, or music, and the Wi-Fi stops working unless you upgrade to the premium service. And they don't tell you how much the premium service is until after you put in your credit card. Even the front desk does not know how much the premium service is. Just put in your credit card an then find out how much.

3) There is no supervisor or manager on site, just the front desk receptionist. So nobody on site if you have a problem.

4) Basic things like the hot chocolate machine runs out of hot chocolate, and rather than refill, just a note that says empty.

This is a premium priced property and there are plenty of premium hotels in the village for similar prices. No excuse for these problems.

For the week leading up to my destination wedding to Mont Tremblant, my parents and I were originally going to stay at Voyageurs but since they did not have the same room size options the manager upgraded us to the Ermitage. We are so lucky he did! All of the staff were friendly and helpful and did not miss a beat helping us throughout the week. Our room next to the chapel was amazing and they even gave me an unexpected and nice wedding congratulations card on the day of the wedding. I can't express enough how great the experience at the Ermitage was and would highly recommend to anyone (even though you have to take the cabriolet up to the slopes it is only a short distance from the hotel. you are also right next to the ice skating rink)

It's my second time staying there. The location is perfect as it is not in the noisiest part of the village. Rooms are spacious and have high ceilings. The gaz fireplace is a nice extra as well. I have seen many rooms on the station but the one at Ermitage are hands down the nicest and cosiest. Perfect for family or a pair of people.
