Spent only one night in this lovely old home - it is worth staying much longer. Lovely room, great bed, near enough to downtown Lunenburg to walk it in 10 minutes. Didn't have time to take out a bicycle - will do that the next time we're there. The breakfast was great as was the company - one of the nice things of staying at a B&B is, of course, enjoying a leisurely breakfast with interesting people. Hosts Lorne & Janet could not have been more attentive.

Room Tip: Any room in this B & B is a good room.

Dear Sheleigh,

Sometimes even a short visit can make an impression on us and we thank you for the visit as well as the happy review. We hope there will be another visit with a bicycle on the agenda.
All the best, Lorne and Janet

Spent three wonderfully relaxing days in the Dragonfly room. Lots of light and space. After 3 weeks of travel in the area, this B&B provided the most charming accomadations. Close enough to town to fully enjoy the restaurants and activities, but far enough away so that you could escape the tourists. Our highlight was the day we visited the farmers market, returning with a cornucopia of fresh foods and local wine, sitting on the beautiful porch, sharing our bounty and engaging in great conversation with the owners.

Hi Santa Monica,

We remember you well and greatly appreciate your uplifting review. We can't always find the time to spend "evening time" with guests but are often rewarded when time permits. We have fond memories of your visit and hope to see you again. Warm Regards, Lorne and Janet

The Alicion B&B is a 5 star experience within a short walking distance to the town of Lunenburg.
Lorne & Janet are the perfect hosts. A stay in their beautiful home is far superior to a hotel.

Exquisitely appointed rooms with a fine collection of antiques. Their concern for our planet is evident. The Green Beaver toiletries provided were wonderful.

We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed a delicious breakfast every morning in their beautiful dining room. We appreciated Lorne’s advice for touring and restaurants. We stayed in the Kingfisher room, a lovely room located on the first floor. Parking is conveniently located right on the premises.

Thank you Lorne & Janet for a wonderful stay!

We recently stayed there and had a wonderful visit. Breakfast was deliscious and our room (periwinkle) was beautiful!! The tub and bed were amazing!!! Janet was very friendly and welcoming and easy to talk to. Wifi doesn't work in the bedroom - not that you need it anyway. And an easy walk to the lunenburg downtown. Love that green beaver products were in the rooms and how simple, and clean the room was.

Room Tip: We'd stick with periwinkle should we ever return. Kingfisher is on the main floor near the dinin...

Dear Keddy,

We thank your for the lovely review. Thanks also for not obsessing over the Wifi, and regret any inconvenience. We do, however, recognize how important it is and discovered that the Periwinkle Room was getting irregular service despite strong signals elsewhere. We have made several calls and will fix the problem in the next day or two. We are delighted that you would like to come back.

All the best, Lorne and Janet

We visited for 4 nights and enjoyed the stay immensely. Janet and Lorne are great hosts, the room (Periwinkle) was spacious, quiet and very comfortable. Its a very short and pleasant walk into town, and unlike a previous reviewer - what busy street?? Breakfasts were great and varied. We enjoyed relaxing on the porch at the end of the day with a glass of wine and getting to know the owners and other guests. Grounds are spacious and overall offer a very pleasant relaxing time. We will definitely return.

We stayed here for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Our room was large, clean and well appointed. We slept well every night we were there. The B&B has environmentally friendly practices which we found to be positive. Our room was quiet even with the windows open for fresh air. The breakfasts were excellent and Loren was attentive to individual dietary needs. The fruits were abundant along with lots of yogurt. Each morning we had a different breakfast entree, all of which were excellent. Our internet worked fine and were were able to stream PBS, read the news and conduct other business. Parking was off street and very convenient
We walked everyday to the village center with no issues. Easy walk. Drivers in Lunenburg come to an immediate stop when you enter a cross walk. The streets were not busy even though we were there during peak season. I jogged in the morning with no issues. There is a nice running path nearby. It's a perfect place to stay if you enjoy environmentally friendly old homes close to the village center. One more thing, many old homes have smallish bed rooms. Not the case here. When this home was built it was probably one of the nicest, most elegant homes in town. Its been completely refurbished to its original grand state. One positive thing about saying at these refurbished mansions is that you are supporting the maintenance of historic homes, which this B&B does quite well. I would stay here again without question and would recommend it to friends and fellow travelers.

Lacks view of charming town, walk into old town crosses busy street, no socializing encouraged other than at breakfast. Wi-fi is useless in rooms. Have to be in living room to pick it up. Host says it's not a problem? On plus side, breakfasts were great and varied, room was very nice.

Dear Boopbapazooka

We appreciate you commending us on providing a “great breakfast” and “a very nice room”. These are the key elements that every B&B strives for. The rating you selected, however, and some of your remarks are incongruous with such positive comments.

We would like to address those other remarks. We do care about our amenities such as the Wifi. Generally speaking it serves us well as pointed out by the review that follows yours. We do notice that there are days it fluctuates a little and are addressing that. Any weakness is short lived and may be due to heavy usage, however, we offer a new guest computer in an alcove and the signal is strong in all the common areas, which are very comfortable and welcoming to guests at any hour of the day.

In terms of our location, we do not advertise a view. The best views in Town are toward the golf course, which is a 90 second drive or 10-minute stroll away. In fact, our location is one of our best selling features as we are located in a beautiful, historic residential area. As such, Alicion Bed & Breakfast is on ¾ of an acre situated on a quiet corner and features colorful and lush gardens, which are a great source of enjoyment for most guests. Our location also allows us to offer spacious bedrooms and large bathrooms, rare in the industry

The suggestion that we do not encourage socializing is quite inaccurate. We not only offer both inviting living and dining rooms but guests are encouraged to enjoy our delightful wrap-around veranda and ever changing gardens. We often see guests taking advantage of these features and on occasion, when time and circumstance permit, we might join them. We are very generous with our time during the breakfast period and are always ready to share our knowledge of the area.

The traffic comment is a little baffling as we are a Town without traffic lights and our main street is far enough away that noise is not an issue. The main street has several crosswalks, which can be negotiated in under a minute. We offer suggestions for walking into the old section, such as a trail along the water’s edge that takes one by an historic French cemetery.

We celebrate a little hustle and bustle when tourists coming to town.
