We stayed at the Homeport Motel August 11, 2009. Simply put, we could not have asked for better accommodations. The room was bright, clean and spacious, and the property beautifully maintained. In particular, we liked the location of the motel. It's only a 10 minute walk to "downtown", and with such glorious surroundings, who would want to drive!? The proximity to the highway, grocery, and liquor stores was brilliant. Being set back from the highway afforded peace. Of the many motels we stayed whilst in Nova Scotia, this was far and above the best, at an excellent price!

This motel is all ground floor drive-up with office in a seperate home . Rooms have A/C frig, toaster, Microwave. and some utensils. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. I thought it was good value for the money

The Homeport Motel is just outside of the main part of Lunenburg. We stayed only one night, but we'd stay there again if we ever return to that part of Nova Scotia

The rooms were spacious, simple and clean. A small fridge, microwave and toaster was available. It's only a sort walk to a large grocery store and liquor store. They also have a laundry facility and they even supply some detergent and dryer sheets to use. Not a grand place, but overall, it's all you really need in a motel and a good value too.

One tip for dining - the Salt Shaker Deli on Montague Street in Lunenburg has a great deal: pint (of beer) and a pound (of mussels) for only $10!

One more tip for sightseeing: the nearby fishing village of Blue Rocks has much of the charm of Peggy's Cove, but without the crowds.

We stayed at this hotel for one night while sightseeing in Lunenburg. We booked a room with a king-sized bed and the only one with that happens to have a double jacuzzi tub so we got a bonus. The place is spotless and the decor is very nicely done. The bed was very comfortable and there was everything you would need in the kitchen. The bathroom was very large and there was plenty of hot water. The owner who handled the booking was very efficient and polite. There is no place to eat at this hotel but there are lots of restaurants, etc only about 5 minutes away since it is a small town. My only suggestion would be that they make the curtains into "light blocking" rather than light filtering since their street lights keep the place rather bright once you have gone to bed.
I would definitely stay here again. Well worth the money.

  • Liked — Comfortable bed, double jacuzzi.

After reading reviews on trip advisor, I booked a double for the night and was not dissapointed. The motel room was very clean and spacious. Tea / coffee making facilites were avaliable as well as a small fridge and writing desk. As stated previously the motel was very quite, which made for a great nights sleep, and all at a budget price!

We had a suite in the first row (about 8 units) of attached units of this small, family-run hotel. We had booked for 3 nights based on TripAdvisor, and then extended it to 4 nights. We will stay here again and have recommended it to our families.

The suite was a comfortably sized bedroom with 2 Queen-sized beds. There was a tv and a small stereo system in the bedroom.

The bathroom had a good-sized jacuzzi half-moon shape tub, with a single-person seat at one side. Our children (under 9) loved sharing the jacuzzi. It could sort-of be used as a shower as well, as there was a handheld shower nozzle that latched onto the wall. (We didn't really try to shower.) and there was a full shower curtain.

The bathroom electrical socket was a GFCI--the safe kind that will stop the power if the hair dryer falls into water, etc.

The towels were nice. The toiletries were the minimum, but that's ok there's a grocery store with everything basic you might want only a 2 minute walk away.

There was a living-dining room, the kind where one end of the room is the living room and the other is the dining room. The dining room had a nice oak table for 5. The couch pulled out into a double bed. However, although it was fine for our child, I would not want to sleep on it as an adult. It would be too thin a mattress. Our child however was very comfortable. And the couch was comfortable to sit on. There were a few basic chairs to sit on, not particularly padded. There was a tv. We didn't stay inside enough to watch much!

The kitchen was very well equipped! As well as a dishwasher (!), full-size fridge and apartment-sized stove (1 large burner, 3 small), and microwave, toaster, and coffee maker, and a kettle to heat on the stove, there was a full set of dishes, glasses, wine glasses, cutlery, utensils including a whisk, and lots of pots and pans. There didn't seem to be a cookie sheet, but I'm sure we could have borrowed one, if needed. We made many meals and I didn't find anything missing. They even had fresh dish towels and dish clothes daily, and they provided the dish soap and disherwasher soap. And there was even salt and pepper handy! Some coffee was provided, but we preferred to takeout from the Tim Hortons a 5 minute walk away.

We drove downtown as we intended to walk a lot once there. It's at most a 5 minute drive downtown.

There is one washer (price $2 per load when we were there) and one dryer (price ???maybe 1.50 per load when we were there) located near the office. Like most apartment washers and dryers they did the job but I wouldn't wash delicates etc in them!

This is NOT the place to go if you like to stay up late making noise. It's meant for people who want quiet and are respectful of their neighbours need for sleep and peace.

Oh, and there was a doe and fawn deer feeding on the grass one evening. And blue jays. And a peach or apricot tree loaded with fruit.

I'm probably forgetting something, but overall it was great. And very clean.

Overall, we really enjoyed the stay at the Homeport. Our family of six booked into a suite at the Homeport. The suite was divided into a main bedroom with two queen size beds, a second bedroom with a queen bed that opened with pocket-doors onto the dining room area. There is also a well equiped galley kitchen and bbq's. The bathroom is large and has a corner jacuzzi tub. A coin-operated washer and dryer are available. The hotel rooms are dated and could use a paint job but the rooms were extremely clean and owner and staff are friendly.

The Homeport is directly next to a grocery store, liqour store, Tim Horton's and a gas station. You are well within walking distance to the Knot Pub (a great little place) and the community centre that hosts the farmer's market on Thursdays (get there early to line up for the Acadian baked goods). It felt like a two minute drive to the historic downtown area and you could walk it in fifteen minutes.

Forget whale watching in Lunenburg (you will see more elsewhere) but the kayaking in Mahone Bay was great (Mahone Bay is a short drive as well).

They were having problems with their wireless internet antennae so you could not get a signal in the rooms. They made an office laptop available and we simply checked the internet lounging on the covered porch.

More suited to people wanting a quiet place and families; if you want a place to party with friends look elsewhere.
