“Best overview of Atlantic fishery in Canada.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 December 2013

the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic is an excellent family venue...the very young are accommodated throughout the museum by the TOUCH TANK, Colouring stations and challenging puzzles, those interested in the history of the east coast fishery will enjoy the detailed displays, and those interested in the reality of everyday life on land will see hooking, weaving & quilting demonstrations...the ultimate experience is to go aboard the Museum's vessels tied up dockside.
Allow time to see it all....come & go on a day's pass....it is fabulous!

“A nice option, rain or shine”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 December 2013

Our primary reason for going into the museum was the incessant rain, but I'm glad we stopped in. I knew little of the history of the Atlantic fishing when I entered, and much when I left. I don't think I'll forget the feeling of actually being inside the trawler and schooner...I have a newfound appreciation for this livelihood.

“Lots to learn about fishing and ships”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 October 2013

We really enjoyed our tour of the Museum, its friendly tour guides and a couple of interesting lectures. It was pretty primitive and scary work for sailors and you appreciate that when you see their living quarters. Loved learning about the Bluenose history of racing and fishing before that.
Well worth the visit.
Make sure you see the actual fishing boat beside the Museum. A tough set of stairs but worth it, and is included in admission.
