Owner description: The islands around Blue Rocks are some of the best kayaking in Nova Scotia. We offer daily kayak tours and rentals in this beautiful and sheltered area. If you haven't explored these islands, it is a must.

We had a terrific day on the water thanks to a knowledgeable and down to earth guide. We will definitely go back for the Ovens tour and would recommend this outing to folks of all ages and abilities. Carl made us feel relaxed and his tips helped us gain confidence...very informative running commentary on the local ecosystems along with a great resteauant tip for an after trip meal in Lunenburg.

Thank John M

I rented a sea kayak from Pleasant Paddling. The service was great, with lots of help, advice and extras to make the day easier. I would definitely go back to try again!

Good times!

This 4 hour kayak tour around Blue Rocks' inlets, channels, the gut and other sheltered areas was terrific. Carl is a wonderful guide, very knowledgable about the natural habitat, flora, fauna, shells, rocks, weather, tides and birds. He has a great sense of humour and puts everyone at their ease immediately whether you are a novice or experienced paddler.

The trip was very relaxing - no pressure to move at a fast pace. Carl was very patient and allowed us the opportunity to enjoy everything around us from herons, to osprey to ocean swells just outside of our paddling area.

Instruction for all the equipment was detailed and welcome and he made sure we were handling the paddle and kayak rudders properly for a good and efficient ride.

We used single kayaks, but double kayaks were available for those who wanted them. He said that if you want to learn to handle a kayak independently than that this was a good choice, but if you were more comfortable in a double then you would have speed and more stability on your side with two - we felt perfectly stable in the single kayaks as well.

The snack break on a gravel beach was a welcome time rest to stretch our legs, have a bite to eat, learn about shellfish in the area and have a toilet break (for those of you who might be wondering if you can make it for 4 hours without). Everything we took in with us (in terms of food wrappers and organics), we or he took out exercising good stewardship.

We had the greatest time on an overcast and partially foggy morning and the water was calm throughout. Just a perfect Nova Scotia day in our books.

Thank you Carl. Great and rewarding 4 hours.

I've never written a travel review before but I was so impressed by this experience that I felt I had to write about it. I enjoyed every minute of the 4- hr guided trip including the instruction and safety briefing, the serene paddling around the Blue Rocks islands, the personable and informative guide, the snack break on the island and the excitement of paddling on the open sea at the end of our trip. The scenery was varied and stunning and the paddling was easy. I highly recommended this experience; it's one thing to view the sea from land but a totally different and awesome perspective from the water. Don't miss this opportunity!!!
