“The Best B&B Experience, EVER!”
Reviewed 9 September 2012

There is not one negative thing that can be said about the Lunenburg Inn. From the moment that we entered through the Inn’s ancient doors, we were greeted by name, by Donna, one of the Inn’s owners. The warm and friendly atmosphere was felt immediately, made even more amazing by the plate of fresh-baked cookies at the check in desk, and within minutes we no longer feel as if we were strangers staying at a hotel; more like relatives staying with close family. Donna and Deryl Rideout were the most gracious of hosts—humorous and passionate—and they were extremely helpful and complete with assisting us with our questions and needs. The building is quaint, the furnishings comfortable and well tended to, and the Inn is kept spotless. If this was not already the perfect place to stay, the morning meal was spectacular. Donna entertains and serves while Deryl is hard at work in the kitchen. The meals are made to order, and the food could not be more fresh or delicious. One thing that I really enjoyed as an added bonus was that—while I love the coziness of staying at a B&B—when I sit down to eat I prefer a private table to that of sharing a table with people with whom I am not acquainted. There are five two-person tables in the dining room, which made this Inn a perfect fit for us. We are social people, and the tables are close enough to have quiet conversation between guests if desired while still allowing for a quiet meal. Coupled with the morning meal Donna and Deryl keep the bar stocked well, and the living room and dining areas are a great place to sit and relax after a day of walking and site seeing.
There are seven well-equipped rooms in at the Lunenburg Inn. Room 7 is on the main floor off the entrance, but far enough away from traffic for that not to be an issue. Rooms 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, are on the quiet and well-decorated second floor and suite 6 is on the third and top floor. For this trip, we stayed on the in Suite 6 on the third floor. It was very clean, specious, unique, and very quiet. Complete with a little kitchenette, basic kitchen tools, and appliances, the suite is perfect for a small family or guests who like to keep beverages and prepare small meals in their rooms. We are thrilled that we chose the Lunenburg Inn as our place to stay for our first trip to Lunenburg.
We will be going back, without a doubt!

We spent a couple of days at this inn and from the start we felt very welcomed and special. The building is a classic 19th century house that is in perfect condition and the location couldn't have been better; within easy walking distance of the town. The home-cooked, home-baked breakfast was wonderful and generous. If you visit this beautiful and quaint town, don't look any further than this inn for lodging.

Room Tip: We had the downstairs suite. It was terrific!

This was our 3rd stay at the Inn and it was as good as ever. Donna is so welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. We never met Deryl but his breakfast pancakes were great. The room was lovely, a bonus having our own outside door and deck.Lunenburg is such a lovely town and the Inn an easy walk into the centre. Access to a computer in the upstairs lounge so useful.

Room Tip: Cornelia suite has living room as well as bathroom & bedroom. Fridge & coffee maker always w...

The Lunenburg Inn is a great place to stay while visiting one of the most interesting towns in the Maritimes. The property is clean and inviting; the breakfasts creative, healthy and interesting. What makes the Lunenburg Inn special, though, is the warmth with which guests are treated. We were made to feel like we were part of a family while we stayed there. Donna worked hard to make sure that our visit to Lunenburg was a memorable one, but she did so in a way that made us feel welcome and included. We never met her shy husband, but his cooking was a treat.

I will be recommending the Lunenburg Inn to my friends and family; as well as to anyone else who will listen to me. This is truly a great place to stay!

Room Tip: There's an affordable suite on the top floor with a fridge and microwave, as well as a sitting a...

The Lunenburg Inn was by far one of the nicest, friendliest, cleanest, and hospitable places I stayed in while visiting Nova Scotia. The Inn Keepers, Donna and Deryl, are extremely attentive, hospitable, and ever so kind. Donna is a wealth of information about places to visit in the Lunenburg area, and is always there with a smile on her face and an offering of baked goods. The Inn is located in the perfect spot within walking distance of shopping, eating and trails. It was a place we called home every night after exploring the many sights of the Lunenburg area. Deryl makes delicious breakfasts that meet the appetites of everyone. I loved this place, and I would return to it over and over again. Thanks to Donna and Deryl for making the Lunenburg Inn a memorable place to stay.

My wife and I stayed at the Lunenburg Inn for 3 nights after also staying there 2 years ago. We were not disappointed, it was just like coming home. The Inn is so comfortable and well located. Donna, the Innkeeper, is as welcoming as she was before and very helpful in providing suggestions about where to eat and the best places to visit. Not forgetting of course the fresh muffins and cookies and the cooked breakfasts. We love Lunenburg and the beautifully maintained Lunenburg Inn, is one of the reasons that we are tempted to come back. Maybe we need to see the Bluenose II back in the water - might be worth the trip from Australia.
