“Saving the history of a long gone Railroad”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014

Duane was very helpful in detailing the history of the long gone Halifax & Southwestern Railway. He has a large collection of artifacts from the H&S and other Canadian Railroads. He is building a model railroad that will duplicate many of the towns that the railroad run through. This is a one man operation that needs support to keep the history of the railroad alive.

“Afterschool program children loved it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 January 2014

I recently brought my afterschool program group to the Halifax & Southwestern railway museum.. Duane opened up especially for us as he is presently closed until spring, and didnt disappoint us with a fantastic tour. The children loved it! Definitely a place to take children of all ages.
The especially enjoyed getting their ticket at the ticket office and then getting it punched once in the coach. They got to blow the whistle..that was fantastic! and the night scene.. they were in awe, just listening to Duane tell the story of long ago...
We had a great time and Duane was absolutely wonderful with the children.
Very Kid friendly. Thank you so much Duane.. keep up the good work.

“Grandchildren visited”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2013

This museum is awesome. I took my grand children there to see the trains. As soon as you enter, you are given a ticket to go on the train. Dwayne and his staff is very knowledgable and informative
with the train display and the lights , they tell the story of the trains leaving Liverpool, its route and returning to Bridgewater. They even let the children pull the whistle. It a wonderful place for children and adults too. Highly recommend to others.

“Rail Enthusasts Dream”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

While not normally passionate about trains or railways, the owner/curator's love of all things train really shines through here and makes for a pleasant (if occasionally cheesy) tour.
The model railway is meticulously detailed, and the 'night scene' is well narrated and coordinated.
Highly recommend for any children who are into trains / train sets.

“Interesting and fun”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2013 via mobile

This is a small, family run museum. You each get a railway ticket to enter, then watch a 4 minute video to introduce the tour. The conductor then punches your ticket and takes you through the first 2 exhibits. You are left on your own to explore a bit, though people from the museum will come up and offer more information or ask if you have questions. There are several rail stations built true to scale and true to historical accuracy. As a finale one of the exhibits is shown as night falls and the lights come on, complete with train whistles and so on. It's fun for families and the owners are proud that they have saved a small part of history for people to enjoy.
