“Enjoy the Folk Harbour Festival while you're there”

What a find!!! My husband and I were looking for a getaway to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary and we found the perfect spot at Solomon House B and B in Lunenbrug Nova Scotia. What wonder hospitality and Janet knows everything about the area. We were there during the Folk Harbour Festival..what a treat!!! Hours and hours of great live music..and workshops for those interested. Or you can just go to Lunenburg and enjoy the charming town. Fleur de Sel restaurant was the perfect spot to celebrate our anniversary. What a great chef!!!
We'll be back

We began our trip with two nights at The Solomon House and it was the perfect first step to our trip to Nova Scotia. Our room was beautfully decorated with a very comfortable bed, a private bathroom with a claw-foot tub with every imaginable lotion and soap available for our use. But little known to us, Janet is known throughout Lunenburg for her famous breakfasts. Fresh from the oven strawberry and raspberry scones, local jellies, jams and fruits, delicious french toast, coddled eggs with tarragon and it goes on and on. And the table was decorated with antiques that she has found throughout the South Shore region. And toss the guide book to the side. Janet sent us on our way with her own detalied map of what to do, where to go, eat, play, etc., none of which were listed in any guidebook (Lonely Planet, Fodors, Moon, Frommers). She is one of the finest hosts we have ever encountred and our next three days on the South Shore were perfect because of her guidance. This place is much more than a B & B. Our only regret - we only stayed two nights. This part of the provence definitely needs more time.

What an amazing find! I had no idea when booking that this house is actually one of THE historic homes in Lunenburg - it's found on the tourist map of homes you'll want to visit. The house is full of period furniture and is warm and inviting. There's a sitting room that all are welcome to use, and it and the rooms are filled with local brochures and books. Janet was incredibly friendly and had great tips for things to do and places to visit and eat. And breakfast was delicious - I've never had such tasty scones! It's well located within easy walking distance to all the shops and waterfront. I would stay here again if I could!

My boyfriend and I recently visited Nova Scotia. We didn't have a lot of time, but we are very happy we spent 24 hrs in Lunenburg! We stayed at Solomon House and HIGHLY recommend it! Not only is it a terrific building architecturally, historically, and situated in a fine spot, the inn owners are lovely, gracious people. Janet Palmer is a fine cook--a fabulous breakfast! Lunenburg is beautiful, interesting, and fun to walk around. Some great galleries and fine shops, not to mention La Fleur de Sel -- great restaurant! I would return to Lunenburg in a heartbeat!

My husband and I stayed one night in the Solomon Room at this lovely B&B, the house was spotless and filled with period furniture, the owner Janet was friendly and had an easy smile. The bed was comfortable with lavender sachets on the pillows and in the bathroom. The room had a child’s bed, desk, dresser and table with books on all things Nova Scotia and local brochures were laid out. The 3 piece bathroom was cleverly tucked in to the former closet and was filled with lotions and soft towels. Cookies were left on our bed in the evening and we had a gourmet four course breakfast just as described on their home page: peach puff pancakes, fresh scones, fruit salad and homemade granola. We have had the pleasure of staying in fine hotels all over the world and we would go back to the Solomon House any time!
