“Campfires under the stars - simply perfect!”
Reviewed 14 August 2010

Ty Parke is the best campsite I've ever stayed at. We've just returned from a week there, with 2 young children (the youngest only 2), and had the most wonderful, relaxing time. The campsite is huge, but will only take up to 10 tents which means it is never crowded, and you always have plenty space to yourselves.
Each pitch has its own campfire pit with cooking grill, and picnic bench. These additions made such a difference to our holiday, allowing us evenings cooking around the fire, eating together as a family, and watching the stars come out.
The facilities are spotless - I've seen worse in 5* hotels; 2 huge family shower rooms, an additional toilet/sink, 2 washing up sinks, 2 fridges with freezer compartments and space to charge electrical goods. Everything is very clean and we regularly saw Gary, the owner, cleaning and maintaining various things around the site. You can also buy firewood on site for the fire pits.
Free eggs from the free range hens are available, which add to the whole outdoor experience. Out and about there are plenty good pubs, towns and beaches - all a short drive away.
Back to Gary, the owner; he welcomed us on arrival and gave us advice on choosing our pitch. He was always around if you needed him, and very friendly and chatting, but never interfered or imposed on your own space. He clear takes a huge pride in his campsite, and the result is clear - a campsite in a million! We hope to return again in the future. I would advise you to book in advance as the restricted number of pitches means it does get booked up.
Highly recommended to all campers - a real countryside retreat, getting back to how camping should be and how I remember it from my 'teens many years ago!

We have just returned from a weeks stay at Ty Parke. We experienced all weather, including gale force winds, rain, more rain and sunshine!
We arrived ( caravan and tent) and had the choice of the main field or 'wild camping pitches', we choose the wild camping. This gave us a very large pitch, with our own picnic table and fire pit.( all pitches have these) Gary (the owner) met us on our arrival, he gave us a tour and information about the site. We all found Gary very friendly, helpful at all times....and we did need help at various times, our car broke down on arrival, so we needed to hire a car, our daughters tent was destroyed in the gale force winds on our 2nd night and we had to be collected (caravan and car, by a recovery vehicle at the end of our stay! ) Gary could not have done anything more to help us!

The shower/toilet facilities were excellent, always clean. 2 large shower and toilet rooms, with heated towel rail, bath mat, hand towel . soap and always toilet paper!
There are also 2 fridges, washing machine and electric kettle and lots of local information on the notice boards. Eggs were supplied by the hens on the farm on a first come , first served basis!

Fire wood is available at a small cost to use for the fire pits... these were great fun.

There is a barn to store surf boards/ body boards, bikes etc and hang washing and wet suits to dry, after being able to rinse your wet suit in a huge water tub.

Gary asks every one to re cycle all rubbish, even down to scraps of food left, these go to the hens or pigs, there is also a compost. Every thing is clearly labelled as to which bin to put what in and it soon became second nature to have very little, if any thing for the land fill dustbin!

There is an enclosed area for the dogs, 'The Rough' where they could run freely, it was also a lovely early morning stroll around this area.

We would highly recommend Ty Parke, we had a lovely week and hope to return.

Having searched on Google, under family friendly, we discovered Ty Parke. Looking at their website, we were reassured they had received good reviews from Time Out and Cool Camping.

Firstly, we received a very warm welcome from Gary. The site has an excellent shower block, which is always kept very clean - a must for us, especially with small children. The owners philosophy is to keep it small and so they limit their pitches, in the main camping, part to 10. Each has a generous pitch size, more than enough for our large tent, gazebo and wind breaks together with a good space from our neighbours. Each pitch has a fire pit, with wood avaliable from the barn - excellent for an evening fire. Poppy and Bramble, the two farm dogs, amused our (and other) children on the site. Because the site was small and initimate there was a friendly feel about the place and conversations amongst the campers were easily started (if you wanted them).

Perhaps, because the pitches are limited and everyone got to know each others faces, noise levels were self-regulated , disipating around 9pm; a godsend for families with inquisitive young children.

When we visited, there was a cross section of campers from older couples, small teenage/ early twenties groups to those like ourselves with young families and the site received good feedback from all.

We purposely chose Ty Parke as it was not directly next to the sea and thereby, we hoped, would not attract , the noisey throng. As stated, we were pleased it delivered on this expectation and to reach Solva, Whitesands, St. David's or Portgain was only a short car journey.

We are certain to return next year and cannot recommend this site enough.

Finally, for a real pub with real ales (child friendly) and offering good food try The Farmers Arms in Mathry.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Fantastic camping and yurt glamping holidays in the sleepy Pembrokeshire countryside. Nestling in the hidden hamlet of Llanreithan, a few miles from St Davids, Ty Parke Farm Camping was set up by Gary & Annie Loch to provide an alternative camping experience from the packed commercial sites that are an all too common feature of Pembrokeshire. We offer just ten camping pitches on our 52 acre small-holding. Each pitch comes with a campfire and a picnic bench. We have great facilities too. And if you want camping with a little more comfort, we also have four very comfortable yurts, with double beds, futons and wood-burning stoves. If you would like to stay in the school holidays, book early because theses dates are usually gone by the end of January. We hope to see you soon! ... more   less
